These two deserve their own thread as they are in possession, not someone’s hopes or nightmares plucked from nowhere
Good luck to them today. A win and the owners have a month or more to properly look around and within (assuming they haven’t pre-identified their man).
Mangan always comes across well, and did well when in temp charge before.
Wheelan is an international with tonnes of caps and loads of respect in the game
Both know the players very well.
I’d be delighted if we push on with them and climb the table.

Personally, I hope they stay at the helm for the rest of the season to see how they do. They know the players and the style of play they're suited to. Loath we repeat the mistake after GC jumped ship and bring in someone who wants to impose a radically different style with players not suited to it. Unfortunately I think our new owners are more likely to follow the example of the clueless new bunch at Birmingham and just want their own man.

I am not against leaving Mangan and Whelan in charge, but today is a must not lose for me. I though Barton would have gotten todays game and possibly be gone after if we lost, but the situation is more or less the same Todays results and performance could focus minds in one direction or another. |
