AS EXPECTED The highly negative anti-stadium protest group are becoming increasingly active. This weekend is when they have been encouraged to send in their objections. In the last 24 hours they have sent in many letters opposing the revised South Stand Application. This is likely to continue. They appear to be claiming that they are NEIGHBOURS. Hoping that this will carry more weight. Devious startegy. Total numbers of letters of support and letters of objection do have an influence on a "tightly balanced decision". Do you or do you not want the development of The Memorial Stadium to occur? If you do then make your point to BCC. It would be really helpful if many more letters of support were sent in over the next two days. pa.bristol.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=S1YCEEDNHVV00If you commented on the previous application that does not mean you or others in your family cannot comment on the revised South Stand application. (APOLOGIES - If this was posted in the existing South Stand thread it is quite likely that it would just be overlooked.)

Some of the objections are truly pathetic, just read one mentioning the local primary school & increased traffic & air quality, I didn’t realise school’s now open Saturday afternoon’s & Tuesday evening’s.

Just wait until they see the plans for the complete redevelopment of The Mem then...
At the end of the day, we have obtained planning permission for an 18.5K all seater stadium at the site in the past. There is precedent. By including the local groups in the process and being sensible we will get planning permission.

I've been looking at some of the objections and some of them are simply ludicrous. One complaining about 'football chanting' at a football ground (!) and the effect on 'flora and forna' (sic). Others are simply comedy gold with some comments clearly cut and pasted from other objections. Obviously a co-ordinated campaign.

Well done to those who have put in a SUPPORT comment to BCC Planning.
Please remember to select SUPPORT. One very positive comment has been marked as NEUTRAL.
Another 30 or 40 Support comments today would be really valuable. DO IT.

Such as: * No privacy concerns from new stand. * Actual reduction in sound levels. * Stadium in use for 100 years. * Detailed travel plan being agreed. * Stadium is unfit for purpose. * Much better facilities for Away fans. * Previous permission for 18,000 stadium. * Comfort for elderly fans and families. * Seats desperately needed. * Good for Bristol overall. et cetera.

I like this one (neutral apparently) from a resident of Alton Road - I'm guessing it's the woman I spoke with when I was taking photos of the parking on a working day a couple of weeks back: Commenter Type: Neighbour Stance: Customer made comments neither objecting to or supporting the Planning Application Comment Reasons: Comment:Honestly I'm sick of all the toxicity from the neighbours, the organised WhatsApp groups and local councillors getting involved for their own publicity. The reality is we moved here about 15 years ago and were strongly against the redeveloped stadium plans. This stand is half the size of that, which was actually approved anyway. Honestly the stand will bring more to the community than it takes away. We complained against the redevelopment, then against Sainsburys and stated the stadium must stay and now we're complaining about a temporary stand to modernise facilities. So what is it? We can't complain about parking on Alton Rd (mine) because it's private, so it's just complaining for the sake of it. Let's just get on with it and work together for once rather than the constant complaining and trying to stop the club progressing.

Another 30 or 40 Support comments today would be really valuable. DO IT. Even if you have already commented, there is no reason why you cannot send another one. I did.
There were around 8000 Rovers fans at the game yesterday. Imagine if just a quarter of those sent in a supporting comment, it would make a massive difference.
Go on, get your husband/wife/mum/dad/son/daughter/nephew/niece/anyone you know to send in a comment. It is so easy and your personal details (name, address etc) don't get published anywhere. You don't have to live local for it to count.
As Sir Trev said above, DO IT.

So after all the consultation dialogue debates which they asked for . We now find that the objections are pouring in and it is probable that it will exceed the first application.
It is clear whatever project the club proposes . The local Anti group will use tactics to delay object and exhaust. This talk of ' dialogue' was a smokescreen. It be more genuine to tell us the truth.
THEY DONT WANT A FOOTBALL STADIUM!.

They already have one. Not that some of them would know. It reminds me of when the speedway was held at Eastville. The locals kicked up a right stink about the noise levels. One evening, a reporter knocked on the door of one of these saddos, and asked what they thought about the race nights, the resident replied. It's far too noisy, we don't want it around here. We want it nice and peaceful just like tonight. To which the reporter said did you know there was a meeting tonight and it's almost finished. The idiot didn't know what to say. That's the sort of numpties we will be up against.

We need to start a new thread with links to the councillors. The agenda will be published 14 days before meeting. Historically Labour & Tories have always supported our applications. We need to remind the 3 Labour councillors and 2 Tories of the benefits to the wider community to have enhanced facilities which benefit families : persons with disabilities and young children. As well as the list suggested in this thread . I'm sure the MODS will allow a separate thread to allow fans a 14 day window to write to our councillors in Bristol. In the meantime as Sir Trevor says : please support this application via Bristol City Council.

You might be interested to know.
22nd to 28th October.
A total of 13 Objections to the planned South Stand.
Last 24 Hours.
35 Objections and still coming in.
Despite the massive expense incurred in the provision of reports/investigations/statements as requested.
Despite convincing evidence that the club has listened and positively engaged.
Despite the fact that significant changes have been agreed as requested.
Despite the willingness of the club to go the extra mile.
Despite clear evidence that there are no grounds for refusing planning approval.
SIMPLES.
It's nothing to with the stand itself.
I don't need to explain what it is really about.
Please SUPPORT the South Stand application if you understand what is at stake here.
