Coutts never joined the company coaching staff, JB suggested he would in one interview but he left once his playing contract ended? I could never understand why KB's contract wasn't extended after he helped JB turn things around following our poor start to life in L2. I doubt KB would drop everything to join us if he hadn't be promised a reasonable length contract by the owner. |

Last season's fiasco in defence speaks for itself Not sure, at least away from home, it's that much better this season, a defence coach should have been recruited this summer but perhaps none of JB's defensive minded mates fancied working in Bristol!! |

Continuity and a period stability is key now. We cannot return to what we witnessed with Ben Garner ripping up GCs great work |

The performance of our defence went south after he left. Istr reading on one of the forums that there was a big argument at the training ground between KB and JB and Bond left soon after. But it took a few weeks before we were told via the website that he’d gone. He may have been replaced but I’m not sure we were told about it and watching our defence at times I doubt he was. I guess these things happen but our defence looked the worse for it so his return will hopefully result in an improvement. I like Kevin Bond, he’s a reliable coach with a wealth of experience. Having seen him manage at AFCB and at Southend I’m not sure he would want a managers post but as a support he will be very good. UTG! |
