Probably an unpopular opinion but he comes across an absolute donut to me tbh, I’d like to get an experienced manager in asap i Remember a Manager of Aberdeen being a Donut before he got a job with them... ended up as one of the best managers in the World . Point is they have to start somewhere.... Never seen him sober so maybe he’s less of a donut on the touch line. Even Joey himself called him a drunken idiot to me haha

We have an unbalanced squad, plenty of skill and talent but lack strength on the ball. I don't know if it's a confidence thing or not? If Mangan stays and follows Joeys ethos then I think we will win a few, lose a few. In my opinion we need a manager to install some physicality and strength into the players. Who that manager is, I'm not sure?

I would answer that - "Well you know that Joe is a great mate of mine and i admire him as a coach but we all know that he can be a little headstrong at times and once he makes his mind up then he sticks with it. I may not bring you the profile of JB but i like to think of myself as more of a team player -level headed and willing to listen to the advice of others who see the game in a different way. That is why the first part of the process is to bring Kevin Bond back and any Bristol Rovers team that i manage will be flexible and adapt to the circumstances of any particular game." So Andy Did this frustrate you? Especially in the light of our average points per game over the last 12 months. Did you feel that your ideas to improve these statistics were not listened to? What we are trying to ascertain here is character. It is essential that a leader in our club has the strength of character to lead from the front whilst having the capacity and acuity to listen to opinion and challenges and adapt accordingly when the facts are overwhelming. A manager who hires mates who just submit to his will is not the kind of character we are looking for. You will note that we have rehired Kevin Bond as coach, a coach who was not prepared to sacrifice his principles previously under Mr Barton. What is your response?

Confused 😕 I’m saying Joey called him a drunk, and every time I’ve met him he’s been a drunken idiot. Not nasty or aggressive or even particularly unpleasant.. just an idiot lol but that’s only a handful of times so certainly not calling him a drunk, I’m just calling him a donut

To my mind, he has conducted himself with exemplary manners, dignity and professionalism since his pal was sacked. (If only Joey could have learnt from him eh?) Anyway, whatever happens down the line, Andy should have no problem getting another coaching or managerial role and he deserves every credit. Have said it before, I'd be tempted to give Glenn Whelan the role with Mr Mangan as coach, if he wanted that position. UTFG and good luck AM. 🏴☠️ I think the other way round, Mangan as manager and Whelan and number 2 The most sensible option with Bondy overseeing things . You only have to watch the warm ups to see how much the players like him and Finlay has even come out today to say they want him top have the job , obviously they are concerned about a new brush sweeps clean etc But seeing all the other names in contention seems the most obvious plan ...

Yes. Definitely give AM and Glenn W a chance. If they want it that is. We’ve had 7 promotions Bert Tann had stepped up as secretary to become manager, Don Megson from coach to manager, Trolls likewise, and DC stepped up for two promotions from Wards assistant. Only Gerry F and JB delivered promotion after being appointed ‘new’ to the club. Now we’re not going to go up this season but give them a chance to use this squad and move up the table. After seeing some of those mentioned I’m sure it could be a better option short term. UTG! If we win our two games in hand we're not far off the play offs. I don't think we should rule out promotion just yet. It’s a good point. I’m just trying to manage expectations!!! 😉 UTG!

Don’t think I can be much clearer so hopefully that’s the last time I have to answer a question 😂

I just think when Northampton came at us to get something out the game last week - like you knew they would - his tactical nous was left lacking a bit.
You want to see leadership, direction and strategy, I'm not sure we saw that and we were left clinging on at the end....the fact they were swept away next match leaves me to believe they're not as sophisticated to work out.
He is very media friendly, and it's obvious he has an advantage with player knowledge and their strengths/weaknesses... I'm just not so sure in the rest.
He has the ball at the moment, good luck to him, much like GC did so am happy to support him but just wish we could appoint a wily experienced manager with a promotion out of this division on his CV...

I agree, Northampton changed their shape as our formation was causing them problems, and Mangan didnt have any answer to it. By luck we won. He is too close to Joey anyway, no point in getting rid of Joey just to keep Mangan

I think a Andy Mangan, Glenn Whelen combination with a director of football such as Nigal Pearson may work. I can remember an article in the telegraph saying that the Lennie Lawrence / Trollope management team was one of the best in football at the time until we let Lawrence go that was a big mistake.

I thought LL messed up by spending a fortune on mediocre players and then fans started questioning what he actually did for him money, a bit like with TW, unfortunately PT was clearly not up to being a manager.

Higgs said he always intended to let Lawrence go, i think having to pay the wages of a Director of Football at the time was to much. But we were sitting in the top half of league one before Lawrence left and we went down hill quickly.
