What fantastic news this is for Ollie and his family.
Giving an academy player an early opportunity to shine or just pick up the atmosphere is just so inspiring.
Ollie has been in the academy since he was 9 and has recently been offered a two-year scholarship with the club.
He has represented Wales at both u15 and u16 age groups, scoring in the previous fixture against France.
Last week Ollie was selected in the Wales u16 squad to participate in the famous Victory Shield competition.
Ollie is a forward player who can play down the middle or out wide and likes to play on the shoulder making runs in behind the opposition's back line.
What an opportunity for the lad.

Great for the lad, even if it's only to soak in the atmosphere and be part of the changing room on matchday. Hoping we continue filling the bench going forward this season. Not sure what the thought was earlier in the season behind not filling the bench.

Great stuff!
Never understood why we'd ever not have a full bench which we have done a few times this season.

Great opportunity, but if he does to well we will probably lose him for pittance. Hopefully we be in a position to give him a few minutes.

As I said on the other thread , I hope if he makes the bench we are in a position in the game to give him some minutes.

If he's under contract there's no real reason to lose him for a pittance, Sinclair is proof of that. Perhaps this is the new co-owners approach actually play our youngsters.

They changed the rules since then didn't they?? I thought they can just take them for small compensation, if they have a better graded academy etc

So we wouldn't get much of an initial few and would only get a significant fee, if he played a lot of Premier league games.

We probably got far more than we've received for any player JB signed? How much did we get for helping to develop EA's, Quansah or Coburn's careers?

Keeping them hungry. That's the only logical reason I can think of.

How much did we get for helping to develop EA's, Quansah or Coburn's careers? EA helped us get promotion and sell it the ground a lot. So that would have brought in extra revenue. A lot more than what we would have got for the boys that went to Villa.

Another clever move from Mangan. The word on the street is that new owners are going to put a lot of time into the academy.
First he gets Bond back in as his experienced head, not he’s turned up at an academy game and is sticking a young lad on the bench at the first opportunity.
I think if we see a couple of wins in the next 4 days we could have our new manager in place.

Fantastic to see, even if he only gets to sit on the bench it will be great experience for him. I could never understand the thinking behind not filling the bench, we've taken 3 or 4 of the academy players away in pre season & used them against some good opposition then don't give them experience when we had the chance. Mangan looks as though he's prepared to do that, Shaw (I think) was part of the warm ups last Sat & now the young lad in today's squad. Nice to see

It’s fairly simple really, talk to academy staff, have a link with all the teams in the club. Blimey, it’s not rocket science is it talking to all club staff about players for BRFC? UTG!
