Mangan in the interim for continuity with a view to a new manager before the end of the season if we are not hitting playoffs.
Meanwhile they can start bringing in "club men" rather than "Joey's men" behind the scenes.

Got a hunch we’ll get someone in who’s currently with another club.

I suspect Coughlan was standing in whilst the board already had plans for other things. His success on the field put a spanner in the works. Mangan may be in the same position. The board may have a clear target but if results go well it will be virtually impossible for the club to not give him the job. Which means if he is not their choice he may find a limited budget to use. A manager has to be able to play bad cop..Mangan is the players friend as a coach . Has he the steel to tell Finley(for example) to find himself a new club in january or the summer ?

Why would he quit Chesterfield again when he looks like they'll finally get promoted back to the football league? If he would I'd imagine Chesterfield would want sizable compensation.

I’m finding it tough to come to a conclusion on Mangs getting the job full-time.
On the one hand I like the continuity he’d bring, and the players clearly like him and are playing for him.
However, he’s been given the caretaker gig at a time where we’re going through the kindest run of fixtures we’ll have all season. And IMO that makes it incredibly difficult to judge what level he’s actually at and whether or not he’s really the guy to push us into the top 8 (as is clearly the expectation of the owners).
In a way it’s a shame our next two matches aren’t against Bolton & Derby (or similar), so we could see Mangan’s tactics against a side with more comparable squad quality to us.

Conversely if we don’t take at least 4 points from the next two matches the decision for the owners will be easy. I hope we take 6 points and Andy is installed until at least January. I detect the new owners are pretty ruthless and are focussed in what they want. Karl Robinson now running at odds on favourite - personally really don’t see why Monk (although now drifting) is at such short odds - out of management for nearly three years - we can do a lot bette than considering him imo.

Likewise ,I like listening to him and there is a real enthusiasm about him but we've played teams we're expected to win. After these 2 results I would now give him
to the end of the year and if we are top 10 at least , give it to him. If we come unstuck bring in the new man , and there may be better candidates available, plus this will give him
January to mabey bring new players. Atm realy unsure trying to pick the minds of the owners.

Give him to January, by then we will have played some of the top clubs, if we are in the top six offer him a contract. Why change a winning management team. Thing is Robinson , Monk and Harris have all had success in the past, but they have all had bad spells as well and you never know how they are going to turn out at a new club, So I say if we carry on doing well, don't change something that doesn't need changing.

No, Cook looks like a man on a mission at Chesterfield

I'm surprised how many are voting for Mangan.
Based on what? A game we could easily have lost against Northampton and a win against Whitby.
I'm not saying he shouldn't be considered but I'd want to see at least another 3 or 4 games first.
I couldn't vote for Mangan right now. However, some positive results and performances over the next 2 or 3 weeks could make him a frontrunner.

You can only beat whats in front of you, and Andy Mangan has.

Mangan comes across well, but I'm sure even with JB in charge we would have beaten Northampton and Whitby. So won't get carried away with the results.
