Made hard work of it in the end. I really don't know what's happened to Marquis, Sinclair, Collins all look lacking in confidence? Just a lack of conviction when they are about to shoot, it's a bit half hearted. We made enough chances to win three games tonight.

I don’t think it was that bad. We created quite a few decent chances - which we were lacking under Barton - lots of passing with him but no clear cut chances. Granted Marquis and Collins should both do better - but that is individual error and a lack of confidence especially for Collins. We were solid at the back apart from the last 10 - and that is when Newport were throwing everything at it. Had a few opportunities on the break then when Sinclair should’ve put it to bed. Thought Ward did ok in goal with what little he had to do. Another clean sheet. Good chances created and on another night could’ve been 4-0. Whilst not as pretty nor as much passing as when Barton was here, we do now close out games and look more robust at the back.

We’ve all seen plenty of recent Rovers teams/squads who would have zero chance of getting 4 wins and a draw under Mangs temporary reign.Like many have said, take the result, move on and see what the future holds.

Your man Barton said when he took over from Garner “I will sort out the transfers”………his strikers Leon Clarke, Pitman, Marquis “we have signed the best striker in the league” and thank god Martin was unemployed and living in Bristol, he’s a saviour. Barton hoodwinked you mate and many others, left us with a bang average squad, we need 2 strikers in January to compliment Martin, Marquis is dross bar effort and I’d try and offload him to Div2

Pretty sure JB lined up the signing of JCH, if he'd played tonight he would have had at least a hat trick.

Tonight highlighted yet again we need a striker who can score the numerous chances we create. Yes, when it comes down to it that’s exactly what we need. Getting a scorer is always the hardest position to fill and it seems that we’ve been searching for that ever since JCH was sold. UTG!

Jch scored a 123rd minute equaliser tonight in a 4-4 AET draw away at Salford. Then the first pen in a 5-4 shoot out win.

Tonight highlighted yet again we need a striker who can score the numerous chances we create. 1st part of being a striker is to get into the correct space. Marquis did that all night with many clear chances and one on one chances and as far as I recall didn't even get a shot on target or was off side as he does frequently in tonight's and other games. Running around like a headless chicken looks good and does pressure defences but he is not in my opinion a top Div 1 striker. Would Martin have scored in those Marquis position? I think he would but would he have got into those positions?

I should imagine all our front line are feeling a bit anxious, which won’t help their confidence/ composure. I’ve been in that position where a proven superstar replacement is being lined up/ bought in. It’s not a great feeling…….everything turns to Rubbish.

Echoing what’s already been said but we looked pretty solid at the back I thought. There were a few scary moments at the end, but that’s to be expected when they were just lumping long balls in, but having said that we stood up to it. We had enough chances to put it to bed, Marquis and Sinclair missed one on ones and at the other end Ward didn’t have a save of note to make that I can remember.

Two strikers needed, I’d be trying to offload Marquis in January, might even get a small fee.

don't you ever give up, bloody boring me to death You don't *have* to listen. Just block him. Your comment adds nothing to this thread. Gasify - get the point but personally I don’t see what need there was for Roadman to make his comment in the first place as we all know his views and to me it was just a point scoring comment to be antagonistic…. We all know that there were those who were strong advocates of Barton as a manager and what he achieved, those who were in the middle and those with a complete opposite view - and I say Barton as manager as I’m purposely separating out his personal life stuff from him being a manager as I think you can differentiate between the 2 and have different views. He is no longer with us and we have an interim management team in place and they’ll decide (or the new manager) on what we have, need and will change … bringing up what Barton did or didn’t do when he was manager is pointless and adds no value and just creates unnecessary division. Saying to just block or not read isn’t the answer as the unnecessary comment in the first place is the cause. I like reading Roadmans different views as normally they add value and a different perspective even if I don’t always agree with them and I do think it’s important that we have alternative views so people can widen their perspectives but lately it’s almost a constant obsession and continuous hammering of Barton, the club and over promotion of Oxford who are being successful this season after many inconsistent years on and off the pitch (according to my Oxford Utd season ticket holding mate who’s been supporting them for 30 plus years)… it’s on every thread pretty much and just constantly derails the thread(s) unnecessarily in my opinion… Keep posting and sharing views Roadman but maybe just tone it down or reign it back a bit - just like the criticism put forward to those who over promoted Barton and his ‘successes’ and capabilities as manager ….. Just my view…
