The owners want a young and upcoming manager with experience of promotion to the Championship. However, the successful ones would be highly sought-after or still in a job or want their own backroom staff. Like so many others, my thoughts are that there isn't anyone in particular who stands out.
I want the owners to appoint the best possible management team; rather than saying a young manager not bringing a backroom team - else it seems a bit cheap.
If we are going for a low cost option then I think we should offer it to Chris Martin until the end of the season. He is a strong personality with many years of experience of where we want to be and has played for lots of top managers. You don't get to play without any pace at a high level for so many years unless you are a very determined person. He's ruthless and doesn't care that he once played for '82 so neither should anyone else. His connections are better than most other names mentioned and knows the standards we need to be aiming for. Lives local and so not going to disappear into the sunset for half the week.

Surely if the owners were going down that route Whelan or Mangan was the obvious choice?
Personally I feel we need an experienced manager to sort out the vacuum left by JB not somebody learning the job

His positining was good keeping very high up the pitch and staying central so keeping the oppo central defenders from getting forwards. Issuse was the rest of the team playing too deep - which became worse when AM changed to 5 at the back.

He barely moved or challenged, sulked when pulled off, definitely not Manager material.

Incredibly odd thread given we're announcing Taylor tomorrow?

Not sure he would leave Coldplay. Not even sure Coldplay is a style of football (maybe it should be?).

Not sure why you've posted a link to that article, as clearly it didn't concern the owners when they appointed Mangan as Caretaker Manager.

I'm not sure he's been captain much in his career let alone a choice for management?
Logic being, if you can lead your team on the pitch, you might stand a decent chance off it.

Actually don’t think that matters at all as in who becomes a good manager. Different skill set, perhaps. Not all captains become good managers but I think it's a definite bonus. Leadership qualities. There's definitely transferrable virtues.

That's feckin pathetic. Something that happened 14 years ago and even then it was only betting on his team to Win not lose.

Any reason given for Chris Martin's absence last night?
