Football definitely has changed. Although we drew, gotta say I had less enjoyment on Tuesday than I did when we lost at Twerton 1-5 v Barnsley. They were just so much better than us, you had to appreciate their quality, but to our credit we never gave up and kept trying to get a goal back. Many supporters stayed and clapped our players off at the end. Imagine getting drubbed like that now! The boos would be ringing out after two down and the stadium would be half empty at 3 goals down. There's no doubt the pressure to win is much more evident than 30 years ago. Unless celebrating a goal, if a player smiled during a game now they probably get slaughtered, especially on forums for not being professional or not taking things seriously. Remember David Speedie missing a great chance for Blackburn at Twerton and when the cries of ey-ore, ey-ore rang out. He smiled and put his fingers on the top of his head to replicate donkeys ears. No player would dare try and have that sort of banter now. I forgot that game…… I still have nightmares of Grimsby winning 3-0 at Twerton, guess it hardened me as an individual! I remember that game I was a kid and it was my birthday they absolutely tore us apart , I think it was the year after we won promotion or maybe the year after that we went down.

Yes I remember that game very well, they all had those blow up fish if my memories correct, plus we were giving some fat lad some banter,he took it well and certainly had the last laugh that afternoon.

If my memory is correct that Grimsby game was yet another where Brian Parkin had an absolute howler trying to cope with the Back Pass rule. I am sure I recall either Vaughan Jones or maybe Geoff Twentyman passing it back and Parkin just booted it on to a Grimsby players shin and it went straight in. I think I knew then that we were destined for the drop.

On a Sunday, I think the match was played..

It's pretty basic requirement for watching or playing football, but after watching MotD this morning you can see how serious football is. Arsenal's Jesus is living most kids dream, earnings shedloads of money doing a job they would live to do, but the bloke hardly smiles. Dwight Yorke used to positively beam even when he was at Villa, let alone winning most of the time at Man Utd. With the for and against Barton situations we have had, I hope the new manager can ease the modern pressure on players and they can go out and play with a smile on their faces and create enjoyment for the fans as well. Early days but MT certainly seems to have done that! What Rovers fans didn't enjoy the last two games?

I never said this but many have, Barton’s football at times was the best they had ever seen. I never got it, in Div2 it was good at times but last night and Boxing Day, it was brilliant at times. First half last night, we were like Arsenal wave after wave, they’d clear it, we’d get the ball straight back to Thomas who as acting like a Saka cutting back in all the time!
I have felt so entertained the last 2 home games, enjoyment for me is also seeing Sam Finley seal dive on the floor with his face trying to stop a cross!
