I think it will take 80 points to make the playoffs this season. I believe the max we can get now is 97 points if we win every game. Which means we already wont be champions. So the most we can drop across the rest of the season is 17 points. 5 defeats and 1 draw. Or 3 defeats and 4 draws. So to have any chance the good form has to start now. So now we can afford to drop 14 points if we want to make the playoffs. So.. 2 defeats & 4 draws . Or 4 defeats & 1 draw. Im not expecting much from the January window ,the owners wont be spending big .

Unless my numbers are wrong, we can afford about 4 defeats and 4 draws.
52 points gap to reach 80. That could be 16 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats. Or maybe 15 wins, 7 draws and only 3 defeats.
52 points from 25 games. Unlikely but not impossible. Can't see it happening though. We need to beat the teams above us, like Blackpool (although we did it to Bolton of course). I can't see how we could possibly sustain that level of form for the rest of the season. I think about 8th is where we'll finish.

On our present form we'll do well to crack the top 10, plus we always seem to give up when the play offs start to look out of reach!

Interesting, the great unwashed did not see Rovers beating Scunthorpe 7-0 at half time to win promotion, fortunately Joey did, he had played through the permutations during the previous January window, went back to one of his former clubs, brought in the Geordie Maradona, probability of going up, went up, and Rovers went up. I wonder who T2 will be calling in January, hmm.

Win at home, draw away.
I’ve said all season we aren’t quite good enough to go up and we won’t go down.
For me we need a period of stability and to give MT time to mould a coherent squad. Must be frustrating for him inheriting such an imbalanced squad with no real pace or match winning strikers
It’s a mid table campaign this one, and I hope we start to look at some of our own youngsters as no doubt we will be losing Vale, Cox Crama and Woods (probably Bogarde) next season.
I’d bring back Ryan Jones for cover at LWB and to see if he’s ready for next season
I’d recall beefy for CB cover
No need to panic buy this January, maybe a pacy loan striker to give us options up top

Still say Rovers will finish mid-table, just as the bookies predicted. Any position higher will be a bonus. Certainly one or two experienced defenders to calm nerves when level or ahead in matches. UTG.

We may finish 9th if things go better 2nd half of season. Which just about reaches the owners expectations for the money spent.I dont think we will finish below 17th unless there is a real collapse within the squad. The owners may have already written this season off and as such only allow players in if some leave in January. The JCH deal collapse and the late opening of the south stand have made this a season to just get over and start again in the summer.

Not entirely sure why people talking about the playoffs. Our club do not need that at this time. The club from root to branch, needs to settle. If we managed to get into the playoff mix, it would paper over obvious cracks which need to be filled first. IF we somehow managed to get through and win promotion, it would be a terrible thing for us. Sounds counter productive and the opposite of what fans should want, but I think we have a lot of ducks that need lining up before we are serious/sensible contenders for top of the table consideration. I would love the side to be a league above and playing against those big sides, but the timing needs to be right.

You don't need to have a wash to see he was a poor L1 manager and the fact he's now retired from football suggests even he accepts that's the case.
