Rotherham United can confirm that Wayne Carlisle has left the club by mutual consent. Wayne arrived at the club in October 2022 alongside former boss Matt Taylor and was part of the coaching staff that secured the club’s survival in the Sky Bet Championship in the 2022/23 campaign.
Rotherham United have stated:
"The club would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that first team coach Dan Green and goalkeeping coach Scott Brown will continue in their current roles following the appointment of head coach Leam Richardson."

Ironic he might return as a coach / assistant manager Never rated him as a player here I dunno, he promised much and occasionally delivered some nice Free Kicks as I recall. A highlight in some awful div 4 teams that I have tried to forget. Certainly not the worst player or midfielder of that era.

He had loads of ability but just didn’t appear to have the motivation, wasn’t at all surprised or disappointed when his contract wasn’t renewed. Still that was a long time ago and I’m sure WC will be a great addition to the management team, if he is offered/accepts the job.

I was very disappointed and a bit slow on the uptake! www.espn.co.uk/football/match/_/gameId/107457

We were a poor team in those days and he stood out as being one of the better players. A good lower league pro. Pleased to see him back here if he is Matt T’s choice.

Very much enjoy those kinds of things... like when Hartlepool had Peter Hartley (later of Rovers) and James Poole playing for them ... and they both scored in the same game: www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/21311991

Went on the SC coach on my own at 16, I may well have been the only Gashead with Carlisle’s name & number on the back of shirt. Those free kicks at home to Darlo & Scunthorpe were absolute bangers n all!

It’s strange how some players have a different style/attitude when moving into management or coaching. George Graham had a languid, lazy style and was nicknamed Stroller as a player but his management style was ultra disciplined, rigid and workman like!!

I agree Eric, the best managers/coaches are the ones that learn from their past mistakes and retaining knowledge (and use it) from previous colleagues/coaches/managers. WC has obviously worked hard as a coach to (hopefully) come to us with such a good reputation. I truly believe that WC could have been a really good player if he’d had put in the hard yards.
