Saturday 21st December 1991
Venue : Twerton Park
Attendance : 6, 306
Rovers Gaffer : Dennis Rofe ( Caretaker)
Score : 3-2 to The Gas
Rovers Team : Gavin Kelly, * Ian Alexander, * Geoff Twentyman, * Steve Yates, * Steve Cross, * Justin Skinner, * David Mehew, * Andy Reece, * Devon White, * Carl Saunders, * Tony Pounder.
Rovers Goalscorers : Devon White, * Tony Pounder, * Carl Saunders.
Opponents Scorers : David Rennie and Junior Bent.
Those who attended this match might remember:
* Rovers going behind to a 12th minute Rennie goal in a one-sided first half.
* Two first half injury goals from Big Dev and Pounds.
* Our opponents moaning and complaining that Devon had leaned too heavily on Leaning for his goal.
* Carl Saunders capitalising on sloppy hesitancy by Osman to score our third.
* Another memorable day for The Gas against disgruntled and disillusioned supporters of a team nearly 10 years old.
Anyone got any other good memories of this match?

Wasn't it played in near hurricane conditions?
Rennie certainly gave me a upset stomach with his 30 yarder that flew in like a rocket.
Think we equalised in the 42nd minute and then on the stroke of half time Pounder put in a cross that would have gone thirty yards back in the away end, but he played for the gust of wind and the keeper (Leaning?) juggled with it on to big Dev's head.
Happy days!

Yep, I remember it well, stood by the tunnel, Keith Valle (RIP) announcing the teams as they made their way out onto the pitch. The spine of that team was tremendous, imo Andy Reece was fantastic, one of the most underrated players to ever wear the quarters, did all the heavy carrying in midfield, no wonder Boris got 50 goals from the wing with a player like Andy in midfield.

Yep, was there. Happy days. Does anyone remember when we played City at Twerton, and the ball was floated to Alan Walsh. Some Gashead blew a whistle and Walshy caught the ball. Free kick to Rovers, as ref didn't blow the whistle. Think it was an evening game.

We had the temp stand so city were only allowed 1000 or so. Great victory. My lasting Memory of the day was walking away from the ground and past a group, I presumed were City who hadn’t been to the game judging by where they were, looking like trouble. Skipped past them no bother. Then on a night out that night bumped in to them again. They noticed my rovers pin badge and I thought here we go. But, no trouble at all. We talked about the game and it was all friendly stuff. Nice memory to cling on to as other meetings with that lot on a night out haven’t always ended so well.

My favourite derby memories are Beadle’s double at Ashton Gate (something about a night game) and I was right behind the one he smashed in the top corner from the diagonal.
The other being 4-0 at Twerton just before Christmas. A young Marcus Stewart’s beautiful side foot volley, top bin that day as well!
Great days, UTG

My favourite times supporting the Rovers. Funny really that while we were at Twerton we always thought that if we could just get back to Bristol we could really push on but up until now it’s never materialised in fact it’s gone backwards. Up until now , what does the future hold .. over to you Mr Taylor.
