There was a short feature on Bristol Rovers this morning. Showed the players having to change at the Hambrook training ground and then board coaches to Eastville. While the match officials travelled in the referee's car as he smoked his pipe! I presume this was after the South Stand burnt down?

Having gone to Bradford in 84 and seeing their old wooden stand,we were lucky in some ways it burnt down when it was empty,maybe that was the plan,who knows,but we could have had our own disaster if it had happened during a match,like Bradford a year after my visit with rovers,a game that was actually postponed last minute due to a snowstorm.

Not much traffic on the road as they went to the match - bit different to that stretch trying to get to the Mem in a Saturday now!! |
