Much better for myself and friends when we fancy jumping on the rattler for a home game, exiting the new Ashley down station right in the heart of all the local watering holes. And much closer to the Mem than Abbey Wood!

This will make a huge difference for me tbh. The home games I make it to these days are when I’m back in the area and rovers happen to be at home, or Christmas/holidays etc.
Coming from Paddington, it becomes a bit of a journey to see us. But if I could get a direct train to Ashley Down then home games would become a lot more accessible for me no doubt

I'll miss the walk up from Mont, but makes trains accessible enough now that I might even be able to do midweek games which would make for a nice change.

Great , think I’ll use this mode of transport when the station opens . The walk from the station will be about the same as where I usually park my car. Choo choo 🚂!
ps then I can have a few beers to drown my sorrows! 😂 🍻

The new station, currently under construction, at Ashley Down is part of the wider MetroWest Phase 2 project which will re-introduce passenger services on open the Henbury Line
The MetroWest Phase 2 project includes construction of three new railway stations – Ashley Down, North Filton and Henbury, to be served by a new hourly service between Bristol Temple Meads and Henbury. The project also includes the introduction of new services between Bristol Temple Meads and to Henbury and Gloucester, increasing the frequency to half hourly.
From that assume cannot get there from Parkway.

Just having a quick look on Google maps, the new station looks to be about a 10- 15 minute walk to the Lazydog/ Foresters arms pubs on Ashley down Rd, then similar walk time to the stadium, I can see it be coming pretty popular on matchdays when it eventually opens.

Approximately a mile and a half from the mem, most enjoyable on a warm sunny day, obviously stopping at a few watering holes, maybe not so much fun when it's pizzing down.

Although if there is going to be a service to Gloucester then it should.

Something I'll be using once it is open. Pity no direct service from Weston super Mare currently, though a short at Temple Meads is preferably to the M5 being stuffed and missing the start of games.

Getting close to a reality, showing as a station with 30 minute frequency from Temple Meads on realtime trains. Perfect from East Bristol, bus to Lawrence Hill and train to Ashley Down station and vice versa. Lovely flaming jubbly.

It's a 20 minute walk. Bridge was put across on Christmas day I watched it being put into place Christmas day evening. Should be open April/may. If people don't want to walk the 17 or 70 bus is an option
