McAllister set for coaching return
Jamie McAllister is set for a coaching return at Bristol Rovers, writes Scott Burns.
The former Scotland cap has been out of a job since he left his assistant manager’s position at Hibs back in August.
McAllister is now set to work with Rovers boss Matty Taylor.
It will see him return to Bristol where he had spells as a player and assistant manager at rivals, City.
Taylor has been persistent in recent days in persuading the former Hearts and Aberdeen defender to join his backroom team.
McAllister was recently interviewed for the recent Inverness job before they went for Duncan Ferguson.
The 45-year-old is keen to go into management in his own right but will now return to help Taylor.
McAllister stepped down at Hibs after Lee Johnson was sacked in August.
Johnson has since returned to management with Fleetwood Town but McAllister turned the opportunity to join him down.
McAllister has previously been No. 2 to Johnson at Bristol City and Sunderland.

No way. Don’t believe it. Sam Finley said the board weren’t going to let MT have his own staff.

I see the Radio Bristol sources haven't improved much then unless the Daily Record have got it wrong. Apparently Wayne Carlisle was soon to be named number2

If they wanna keep numbers the same might see Bond stay on to make it 3 out 3 in.

Wayne was at our game on Boxing Day, just spoke to Lee Johnson and he reckons if we have got McAllister, we have a brilliant management team in place.
I believe his two other back room staff are staying at Rotherham.
We are competing with Championship contracts, Wayne Carlisle like Barton isn’t unemployed, if you are still being paid a wage for a year, you are still employed.

Is a Lee Johnson recommendation a good thing ? 🙄😂

No way. Don’t believe it. Sam Finley said the board weren’t going to let MT have his own staff. Where did Finley say this? His interview after Blackpoll included: "It's hard for him because he's on his own at the minute. He hasn't got his coaching staff, I feel sorry for him, I think that needs to be sorted by the club" Was there more to it where he said they wouldn't let him? That's crazy if so.

I was being sarcastic. The usual crowd turned Finley’s statement into something completely different.

This has to be good news after the delay in appointing MT there isn't going to ɓe a prolonged delay in appointing his backroom staff

Just relentlessly tweets a lot of stuff for engagement, but of very little substance or inside knowledge on any news etc McAllister would be a great addition - however yet another ex City stalwart at the club !!
