While we complain, moan and criticise our ENIGMA player he goes top of the Assists again.
In League One the players with the most assists are:
IN THIRD PLACE (6)
With 6 League One Assists:
* Josh Sparkes at Portsmouth
* Corey Blackett - Taylor at Charlton Athletic * C J Hamilton at Blackpool
* Josh Sheehan at Bolton Wanderers
IN SECOND PLACE (7)
* Nathaniel Mendez - Laing at Derby County.
IN FIRST PLACE (8)
* Aaron Collins of Bristol Rovers
(We all hope that he can rediscover his goal-scoring touch. Soon. Very soon. Meanwhile.)

I think he brings so much more than just goals, he’s a very tricky player to play against for opponents, when he gets the ball you wonder what will happen, he entertains and as those stats prove he makes goals for others.
Fwiw I think the goals will return, he’s regularly going close, I’d be more worried if he wasn’t getting in those positions 👍🏾

And he needs to stay on his feet more

Which is a big skill to possess , He works as hard defensively as he does in attack, His stamina is awesome as he’s still busting a gut in added time. And maybe the biggest gauge of him is he was/is pretty much the first name on the team sheet for both Joe Barton and Matt Taylor👍🏾

Would always be in my team if I was manager.

Works hard, a constant threat and involved in so many goals directly and indirectly.
“But he’s not scoring goals”

I'd have him in my team too, my only point is that if he doesn't score, if JM/CM don't score, those goals are going to be much harder to come by.
Each successful team either needs a consistent 20+ scorer which we don't have or 2-3 players scoring 12 each, which is also a big ask

Martin is averaging a goal every 149 mins ….. that’s 20 goals a season territory !

Yes I agree it is down to them, but they won't get that many (and yes I'd love to be proved wrong). CM may have a decent run at the moment, but to do that consistently over a season, only a few can do and if we get could, I would have expected him to be picked up before we did.

Probably not a wild statement to say Collins' near total collapse of form in 2023 was a major contributer to Matt Taylor's predecessor losing their job. Let's hope the change in backroom staff can help Aaron get back to his 2022 form somewhat in 2024!

Aaron Collins - ENIGMA indeed.I find myself so frustrated with Aaron Colins wondering what he is doing on the pitch & yet his stats make him undropible! The player I see from the stands can't hit a barn door with a banjo, not stood in the right postion for a number 9 or a number 10! He rarely tackles. When he does & is making defensive tackle its from the wrong side. He has no body strength and falls over when the wind blows. He also takes a dive every time someone shakes his hand? And yet! His stats say most fouled player & most assist's! What do I or any spectator know about football! More of the same please Aaron in 2024 & I will cheer & support but remain frustrated!

Yes he does provide a lot of assists but he gets stick because he is a lot better than he is currently showing. On his day he is unplayable but those days are very few and far between of late.

The fact that we know he is better than what he is currently showing, but still contributing what he is should be seen as a positive. I don’t understand some of the stick (especially at games), it’s not exactly going to help get him firing again.

I'm regularly one of those in the thatchers that berates him when he does a lofty and the ball bounces off his shin. But when I watch the highlights back I can see he puts in 💯%. I've got his picture on my wall at home up that Lampost on That famous night in 2022 and I think I need to lay off him.
Come on Collins fire us to glory in 2024 and immortalise yourself in gas history.

Would always be in my team if I was manager. He’s lacking that goal scoring threat this season but he’s running about more now Taylor’s here and taking defenders with him , he’s a constant pain in the arse for every team we play and they know that which is why every time he makes a run diagonally he takes two defenders with him which opens up spaces for others. It’s the price you pay for being league 1 player of the season and then staying in league 1 the following season. He’s a marked man and under Barton this season he wasn’t great but under Taylor he’s tearing around running in to spaces , constantly looking for that goal and that’s why Marquis and Martin are scoring, The perfect decoy.

But I think you must remember that if he was still as unplayable and scoring for fun we wouldn’t be having this conversation because he wouldn’t be here. Anyone playing at the level of performance he was 2nd half of 21/22 season and 1st half of last season doesn’t belong in League one 👍🏾

It would be interesting to know, how many of his 8 assists were actually shots???! 😂
