It's not aimed at the vast majority, his intended audience is a small group that can sustain him financially (Trump, Boris, Tate, Brand). It's a tried and tested way for one person to make a living off a disillusioned group. He's inviting criticism from normal people to appeal to his "fanbase". Doesn't deserve the airtime. He's gone, and will probably be shown with our badge from now on as we will be his last management job. Best approach now is ignoring anything to do with him. |

None of us have "the gotcha" argument that'll convince him. He doesn't want a debate he wants norierty.
Withdraw what he wants and he might review his behaviour.
Like the ITV post and tweet support for women- but don't @him or use Barton in anything- support or critique he wins. Mutehim and move on.

I think he's going to be carrying on Tweeting for a while, everytime he does I sense this thread will keep getting bumped. Why not just get behind our current manager and the lads, instead of worrying about everything he says? He's not employed by us anymore, he's gone. |

Clucking hell, we have to look past whether this guy was our manager or not, or whether he may at one point have said some things that you could broadly have agreed with. For whatever reason, possibly the potential of financial gain, he has completely changed his outlook. I would urge anyone to forget any misplaced sense of loyalty to someone once attached to the club. What is coming out of his mouth now is absolutely abhorrent. Even if you were to agree with him about there being too many women commentators and pundits, the way he is framing his points has lost him any credibility and he is frankly coming across as completely unhinged. The fact that there are people who will lap this stuff up is pretty disturbing. Thing is mate probably around half the men in the country lap this stuff up I reckon. He’s got a very wide audience of blokes that think he’s great and that he tells it like it is unfortunately. He’s also got a very wide audience of people slating him. You’re right he does seem to be becoming more and more unhinged by the day and I can’t see him ever getting another job in football certainly not as a manager anyway. Wasnt a bad manager for us but I’m so glad he’s gone. If he was still at the club and saying these things then serious questions would have to be asked.I actually think there’s probably more chance of him ending up in prison or a mental hospital than as a manager right now. If he was still at the club socrates I don’t think he’d be saying these things. It’s the fact he’s gone that he is saying them. He will never be a football manager again and he knows that, and he’s desperately searching for relevance, a place where he can still be heard and listened to. I don’t believe he believes any of what he’s saying, he just wants fame or if not that infamy will do. Very, very sad. He has serious mental issues that need addressing. UTG! |

Joey is giving them reason to highlight things. Attention is what he wants and attention is what he is getting. I partly get his point about some of the women pundits (although there are crap male ones too). However to make a comparison with 2 murderers just makes him look a dickhead. I never liked the bloke before he managed us but tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, and for most of his time during us I found him OK. I liked the fact he was trying to push and drive the club on but since he has been sacked it is like he' scared everyone is going to forget about him so needs to say something ridiculous to stay relevant. It's quite sad really. I don't know much about ADHD but do we think Barton could have this? Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people's behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse |

It's revealing how petulant people can be. The bloke has nothing to do with us any longer and has chosen a path. Any publicity is good for him on that particular mission. He was with us a relatively short time, we did ok, got a promotion and seen some fantastic football. He is a controversial character with some dark chapters in an interesting life. If the rovers badge on national press is offensive. Perhaps the club should do something about it? It doesn't bother me and wont change our fortunes. |
