Some of the comments! “Joey has restructed the club & put it in the best position it's been in for a long time. Attracted quality players & enviable reputation with bringing on loan players. I would be fully confident of further success with Joey Barton in charge” Restructured, it needs resurrecting now, the manager basically said we’ve got no recruitment department! And never interacted with the academy, restructured, and Barton is always hammering the Tories, I think Liz Truss never left it as bad as him! Some might say….negligent….

Barton has clearly improved us, but I worry he focused on himself and getting us promoted at all costs in a year or two.
We have signed many decent, but injury prone players. He took this punt for the short term glory I would guess.
While if he signed more players more like Taylor and Thomas we could be in a really good spot for the next five years. Sustainable growth. Really challenging for the championship with a squad who could grow into it if we got promoted.

Clearly improved us where? came in with us in 17th and left with us around the same but spending a load more money with a massive squad, no foundations at the club for the academy, scouting etc. All built on sand and we are lucky we have a good leader of men to hopefully sort it out

You’ve just listed so many negatives, you mention injured players, and the manager has basically said we have no recruitment department, look at what Manning inherited at Oxford and the City?!?! Please and this is open to everyone, what are the improvements and what is his legacy?

Can’t believe some people are only just figuring out how much of a knobhead this guy is I don't think this has been in question for the vast majority. Some people just focused on the football

In terms of legacy, those seven goals won't quickly be forgotten.

First impressions generally stick with me , as far as Barton is concerned , no matter what he achieved or not on the pitch , a leopard dosn't change it's spots.
Now thankfully past tense , onwards and upwards with MT UTG!

Barton on front page of BBC news website, must be one of the most read sites in the UK - click the link and there's full Rovers regalia.
If that's not embarrassing then I don't know what is.

Clucking hell, we have to look past whether this guy was our manager or not, or whether he may at one point have said some things that you could broadly have agreed with. For whatever reason, possibly the potential of financial gain, he has completely changed his outlook. I would urge anyone to forget any misplaced sense of loyalty to someone once attached to the club. What is coming out of his mouth now is absolutely abhorrent. Even if you were to agree with him about there being too many women commentators and pundits, the way he is framing his points has lost him any credibility and he is frankly coming across as completely unhinged. The fact that there are people who will lap this stuff up is pretty disturbing.

He talked a good game in parts but mainly Spoke absolute sh**e and wasn’t very good at being a manager in a competitive division where he didn’t have by far the biggest budget.

He's really lost the plot now. Sorry, but there's no excuse for his behaviour other than some perverse desire to play the "rebel" outsider.

He’s got a very wide audience of blokes that think he’s great and that he tells it like it is unfortunately. He’s also got a very wide audience of people slating him. You’re right he does seem to be becoming more and more unhinged by the day and I can’t see him ever getting another job in football certainly not as a manager anyway. Wasnt a bad manager for us but I’m so glad he’s gone. If he was still at the club and saying these things then serious questions would have to be asked. I actually think there’s probably more chance of him ending up in prison or a mental hospital than as a manager right now.

I haven't posted much on this as I was 100% against his appointment and never changed my opinion.
His recent comments are simply disgusting. He will no doubt cross a legal line soon and be properly held to account for them.

JB may be many things but thick isn't one of them. This is a calculated move by him and/agent (assuming he has one) to go for the right wing outrage market. Personally I preferred, bespectacled, bookish Corbynite repentant Joey, to Andrew Tate misogynist gobpoo Joey, but that's just me. Sadly, quite a few out there do agree with his ape like utterances.
Seriously though, each time he pops up on my screen, he's wearing our badge. Fair does, that's a lazy journo, who doesn't give a monkeys about our reputation, grabbing a stock photo.
Because of that though, I would like the club to come out & publicly distance itself from the remarks & to express support for women in the game. Sadly, he's tarnishing us by association now, if he wasn't when he was in post.

It’s not history will show, he is the biggest stain on the history of our club.
Thankfully we have a manager now who is a gentleman, a proper leader and represents our club in a magnificent manner. Joey Barton is actually making Matt Taylor’s job easier which is great for him and us.
Clint Hill made the decision 3 years ago to disassociate himself straight away from him. It’s still hard to believe we never suspended him when the 999 incident happened.
I believe this, his next move is going to be gentleman’s evenings touring the county. He’s going to try and mimic what Gazza and Tyson Fury do and I still think a lot of men in Bristol would go to this event!
