It always seems that we wait until the final days of a transfer window but IMO we should be trying really hard to sign players now with three home games to come. As a club we have never seemed to be off the mark quick in windows and allow far too many games to pass before making a signing. It is clear at the moment that we need two or three players urgently. What better timing to show you mean business with three home games which will all probably sell out.

Whomever we sign, I dont want another +30 year old on his way down the leagues or anyone who hasnt played 30+ games every season for the last 3 years. We have enough crocks and uncles that we dont need anymore.
If it takes time to get the right players who will be an addition for more than 5 games then its ok by me.

We should of signed players very early in the window. I am confident based on the Wycombe & Barnsley game we would of got 4-6 points with the chances we had. Similarly I think we could of beat Norwich based on first half performance .
Answering the question directly the answer now is NO. We are too far away from the play offs and expenditure won't justify our position. In a word we have blown two possible chances we had.
This raises question WHY did the board do this ?. Some say its the legal expenses for the Barton team. Others say its the south stand delays and others say its because we got a new manager.
Either way I will wait to the summer and continue signing loans and frees . We spent 300k in 16 months and a trio of loans frees and non contacted players have got us half way. This is the maximum we can expect based on budgets expenditure .

Surely last night showed yet again we need new players and at least one of them has to be someone who can put the ball in the net and we need them now, not at the end of the window. We spurn so many presentable chances, it’s simply laughable. No good scoring one or two goals from umpteen chances and letting in two or three in the process.

Fees won't necessarily go down because we are mid table. Yes we should of been bold and used the £1 million in the first week. But what's the use now ?. Its a tick box exercise securing mid table and spending 300k in 16 months along with frees and loans. Stockport Wrexham and Mansfield would dream to be in our position. In regards to us being a top 6-8 budget side I personally don't believe it. We are mid table in every sense (attendances fees budgets )

Unlike the summer window it is nigh on impossible to sign up out of contract players. So we have to recruit from other clubs, most of which will hold out until the last possible moment in hope of a better offer from elsewhere. Then you’ve got to negotiate with agents etc.
So can’t see anyone coming in until Oxford game at the earliest.

We aren't the only cog in the system, as much as we'd like to do business early it's not always within our gift.

I’d rather sign a good player on the last day of the window than a rubbish player in the first week.

I'm sure all of the above have had an impact on the Owners pocket. I think it's good that MT has not rushed into anything as he needed to see what we had before bringing anyone in so that any budget could be used wisely. It would be good if he can get a couple of permanent signings through the door ready for next season.

A lot of clubs won't sell, into later in the window as that's when they sign replacements. I bet if you go through most clubs, the majority of big transfers are in the final few days of the window.

This is Rovers we're talking about, so we should sign now. Mid window mediocrity to go with our history. Mediocrity or Death! UTFG. 🏴☠️

Its better to sign the absolutely right player however long it takes. The other option ? Sign half measure players quickly...no thanks.
It would be nice to find loan players we stand a chance of making permanent.
Connor Taylor ,had a good loan period then we pursued until we could buy him.
So are there any of our current loans that we should pursue ...either now or in the summer ?
Wilson,Hunt,Friend...whilst experienced and have played well. They have not helped us have a stable team. Out injured too much. We could manage with one but not 3 in the backline. If you were to be very harsh...they have to go.

I’ve got this funny feeling we may be going back to doing things on the cheap, don’t get me wrong if it’s to make us more sustainable that’s fine as long as there’s a real plan and somehow we pull it off. But it feels like we may have hit our ceiling again, hope I’m wrong and the new owners turn out to be our best yet 👍🏾
