Just hope we can keep a similar team for the next game without the usual X Y and Z picking up knocks and having to change it again

Twelve points off the play offs. Tall order but plenty of points to play for. Great team performance full of endeavour and spirit. Plenty of quality performances out there. MOM Jed Ward. Delighted for him - he’s one of our own. Are we back and ready to compete, consistently? This is more like it. A few extra signings this week and the hope will be there again. Thanks for making this Saturday night better. Yes there are more points to play for. But rich, up to you, but just enjoy a very good win and an excellent keeper performance by one of our own. Stop trying to turn it into the start of a play off push.its not. You help make this place schizophrenic!! Tuesday showed us that we’re way behind other teams. Exeter were awful but beat us easily. We’ll win some and we’ll lose some before the end of the season. We just need to be pleased we’re looking better than last year and with some strategic improvements we could improve next season. Every time we win play offs are mentioned and when we lose everyone worries about looking backwards. Which tells me what we are, a bog-standard mid table league one team which can, in a relatively poor league one, beat teams at the top but can also slip up against teams lower down. Just enjoy the wins rich! Well done MT today and well done the team after a difficult week. And if Aaron C wants to go let him. He had a great 2022 with us but apart from that…. He’s good but not as good as he thinks he is. Today, special mentions to Chris M, Jed W and Kamil C, a good start. 👍👍👍 UTG! I agree with so much of this comment. I also don’t look backwards too often. I’m just an optimistic, hopeful guy. I enjoy my football this way. Hope keeps my interest alive. Enjoy your evening.

Just got back..
What a lovely time on the Road, busy as usual and how many coppers does it take to change a lightbulb? Quite a few, and a horsey or two too ...?
Oh well the police crime commissioner election is on May 3rd if anyone's still awake?
Anyhoos, onto something less important: I got that one wrong!
I've heard of Gavin Ward (tw@t) I've heard of an election ward. I've even heard of someone called Grant Ward on the sick (not the kids saying), but now we've all heard of Jed Ward, no not the Irish double act .... the coming of age of a new era in Gas goalkeeping. What a difference it makes to have a normal goalkeeper with confidence. It galvanised the defence, and we played (with our loads of changes) with purpose and clarity. Ward rightly named m o m with brilliant save at 3-1 and commanded his area. Oxford were forced to change tactics, and the only time he was breached was by deflection..
Ably supported by Crama, Wilson, Hunt and Friend....a defence looking as competent as any other against a team going for play offs and recently top the table.
Finley.... brilliant. A sublime last ditch tackle in second half on their wiley no16, cautiously admired, who seemed to stroll his way through our right flank....then set up the 3rd with decent shot and save. He was everywhere again. Playing high pressure mid and supported by new geezer Conteh. A steady debut. I don't think I saw him give one ball away. Nothing fancy, just industrious and involved...
CM.... all he does is score goals?! I mean, someone needs to look at that! Haha!
Hey, great to see Souf Stand in voice, I'm not condoning the blue flare, because many had those in Eastville, but we need to cut that out for further repercussions, even though I see it as an over exuberance as opposed to a nasty expression....but that's the country we live in. Some others, it's culturally acceptable.
Conclusion: Well done, MT. Made some big calls in pre match selection. We started with more tempo, pace, determination and direct play...we took a shot!? Remember that? We actually took a shot, and have a guess what? We caused havoc and scored a few times?! Incredible....who knew? A balance in the line up helped everything.
One criticism. Oxford pressing, we defended too deep and ultimately they scored in run of play. I would like to have seen a tweak or a sub to counter that....I think he made his subs too late.
But hey we won and deserved it. We got our just desserts after our debacle away result under 'him' and had a great day on the Road to boot!?
This is like the Rovers we know.... please sir, can we have some more?

We have played better than that and lost this season, but that was much more like it.

A superb win, I enjoyed that, I actually left with an overall feeling of relief, I didn’t care how we got it just that we got it, because I really wasn’t looking forward to the posts on here if we lost. Some good performances out there, Crama superb and a good debut from Kamil which bodes well.
Let’s hope that’s the end of the barren run and the start of a good one. Enjoy your evening everyone 👍🏾

Not long back and the celebratory post Gas win curry has been nailed.
Superb performance for the most part, delighted for Jed, he didn’t look out of place for an instant. Always handy having Wilson & Friend in that back 3 who bring all the experience you could wish for, Conte looked superb, cool & calm on the ball, no flashy stuff, everything basic and effective. Very encouraging stuff on his debut in front of a good crowd.
3 lovely goals n all, with only a spawny one from Poxford in reply. Another enjoyable South Stand experience this time with a decent gas showing and 3 lovely points to head home with. Only sour note was the loon who decided throwing a flare on our own pitch was a good idea, the grounds man who dealt with it looked furious.
Just what was needed after the other night. F Collins, Up the blue boys! On we go.

1) Huge kudos Sam f. Clearly carrying a knock but was excellent
2) I hope Matt t learned about us today. I’ve been vocal about playing Jed over someone else’s and the energy and positivity around the stadium was so different today because of one decision. Nothing against Cox but ward has to play the next 20 games.
3) Kam Conteh was excellent. And I think there’s so much more to come.

Solid performance, can't see Oxford going up based on that showing.
Pleased for Ward a few great saves and decent GK distribution which was a breath of fresh air.
Conteh solid and broke the play up well.
Need another ST/attacker and CB before the window shuts - Connolly looked shaky again when he came on.
If Collins goes we need two forwards imo.
