Everything going on with the clubs, the ups and down the league table position etc etc has been pretty much standard average for Bristol Rovers.
You kind of get used to it after over 50 years!

Well said.
Would obviously be fantastic if we could overachieve and find ourselves pushing for top 6 but 10th after 2/3rds of the season is perfectly acceptable and something which hasn't been bettered for about 25 years I believe.
Talk of relegation was ludicrous, keep the faith Gasheads! UTG

Sometimes I think about where we might have been without Wael and without Lee Mansell being ice-cool. Mid table in league one is about as good as it gets for Bristol Rovers in my 30 years of watching BRFC.

Mid table in league one is about as good as it gets for Bristol Rovers in my 30 years of watching BRFC. I still sometimes think about where we might have been if the 3 shots that hit the woodwork against Huddersfield at Wembley were an inch lower, or had Gareth Taylor not missed an open goal, or we didn't concede right at the end against Northampton, or we didn't capitulate so pathetically back in 2000 when automatic promotion looked a certainty. Who would of thought we wouldn't even make the 3rd tier Play Offs again? Then relegated to the 4th tier for the 1st time ever and spend 10 years in it? let alone becoming a Non League club? Who would of thought moving back to Bristol would coincide with the worst period in our clubs history, and that it would take 28 years to finally get a new stand?

I never post on here, but felt inclined to do so because I'm finding myself baffled by some of the stuff that I read from Gasheads lately. The narrative from fans on social media and this forum paints a picture of a club in complete disarray, at risk of going bust, with owners that compare similarly to Readings that are bleeding out the club. And for sure, in games this season, I've left disappointed. We could be doing better in the league and are missing an opportunity, with that I agree and am frustrated. But there's a level of hysteria which I can't seem to understand. We are 12th in the league. Slap bang mid-table. In League One. From my lifetime of supporting Rovers (I'm 30), I am struggling to comprehend why that position would cause any level of concern from fans. It's certainly not where I want to see us in the future, but when considering the last five years.. I'm pretty pleased to be there! At times this season we have shown real promise that we can compete at the top end of this league. But we have been inconsistent, injury ridden, and clearly have to become more resolute at the back. Frustrating when considering our ambitions of getting to the Championship, sure. But people talk about the club like it's in the worst shape of its life. Yet I see a new training ground undergoing consistent improvement, significant investment in the playing squad, our first new stand ("temporary" or not) that I can remember. It genuinely seems to me that we are a club moving in the right direction. The likes of Grimsby fans must look at us taking their star man with extreme jealousy. Things have not been perfect at the club, clearly there are many areas of improvement both on and off the pitch. But compared to what I can remember over the last 30 years.. it hasn't been better! Is there anyone else that is actually feeling pretty positive about the way we are going?!

Why ignore one of the main issues, the new owners sacked JB as he was apparently underperforming but his replacement is starting to do even worse, we went from a football side under JB to, what appears anyway, to be GC type football under MT even though we don't seem to have players who can play that way. Also whilst the new owners talk about a Mem redevelopment etc there's no signs that's taking place nor how it's going to be funded. I'm sure JB was ON THE CUSP of turning his apparently underperforming squad around before he was sacked. We missed out there. Sadly we can now only follow the career of the measured, lucid genius from afar as I am sure he will show us what might have been with whatever role he charitably accepts next. Can't wait. Still clutching your pearls, with your hater bile and virtue signalling; embarrassing "can't wait" ?

Mid table in league one is about as good as it gets for Bristol Rovers in my 30 years of watching BRFC. Little Stevenage were 6th without a "Wael" you do have to wonder where we might be if he'd spent his money more wisely, perhaps doing as our heavily criticised owners did virtually on day 1, forgetting any thoughts of building a new stadium and just redeveloping the Mem.

Have a look at their accounts: find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02901467/filing-historyThey don't seem to be making the losses that we do. It would be really interesting to find out why.

I absolutely loved reading the original post. Well articulated. It was realistic and outlined where we are as a club.
I so wish we had more posts like this.
There is I’m afraid a silent majority in life, as on here, that are busily enjoying life without the drama of being overly optimistic or overly pessimistic.
The emotionally engaged will comment on here where many will just read and not comment. Lots watch, very few actually comment. For example, as I type only 203 gasheads are watching gasworks. A very small percentage of our fan base.
My experience of life is that social media life is not the same as actually meeting people. People are more kind face to face than they are on here. The gasheads I meet are super friendly.
Keep up this standard of posts. Very encouraging. As supporters should we not all be encouraging?
Bring on the next game.

Bring on the next game. Just because they don't post on here doesn't mean they live in a world where they think everything is rosy at Rovers, if we just all accepted what the club did was right then they wouldn't keep going back on decisions they made i.e. season ticket prices.
