Where has all the time gone? It doesn't seem so long ago. Feb 18 1984. Bristol Rovers 4 Walsall 2 at Eastville just over 5000 at the game. I just watched the first goal, scored,I think by Paul Bannon. Then I saw my father in law walking around the perimeter accompanied by an officer of the local constabulary. I realized straight away and headed for the exit. As I got outside I heard the tannoy announcer request for me to attend Southmead Hospital, where my wife had gone into labour. Missed 5 goals that day,and my son wasn't born until 10.20 pm.

I was there that day, stood on the Tote End, aged 16. Fact you may or not be aware of, and may or may not find remotely interesting, is that both managers scored; David Williams for Rovers and Alan Buckley for Walsall.

What a waste...we should have had a stadium that was the Wembley of the West and still had room for an indoor arena. Brilliant road and rail connections etc. Instead it's an IKEA.

I had forgotten all about that fact. As I was walking out, Walsall scored their first goal. I saw it on the telly on the follow Monday. It was a long range shot that Ray Cashley managed to let go under his body. I think Ron Green may have been in goal for the Saddlers that day.

I was there! Under a tote end bar.
They brought loads down in away end.
We tried a free kick routine which was new and worked....we put a two man wall in front of the ball, and fired it into the tote end net! Nice.
Can't remember who scored though.

Yep, it was an enormous piece of land. Could have built a cracking stadium and loads of stuff round it to bring in extra income. If only the Dunfords had accepted Lansdown’s offer…😐
