Good to see that the official site has updated the first team squad photos. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/teams/first-team/But disappointing to see how few players are sponsored. Sure we used to have the vast majority sponsored for both their home and away kits. Don't remember seeing any marketing this season to encourage sponsorship or maybe I missed it?

You are spot on .... but once again the club hasn't helped itself. Shirt sponsorship used to be good business for the club and it was rare to see a player without some form of sponsorship from businesses or families - then it got changed to home / away shirts and you paid for both - but was still fairly popular. This season has been a real embarrassment - No one seemed to have any grasp on it until recently and now Ethan is working hard with prices dropped three times to try and encourage people to spend and I think its now £250 for the home shirt - but for what six games ? Your player being injured for most / all of those potentially ...? In addition there is little if any interaction for you and the player - in some cases if the player has left for the summer or has gone back to their parent club you might just get the shirt in the post or if they are available you all stand in a line and get the shirt handed to you on the side of the pitch. I suggested recently that surely there is a better way - Maybe allow the sponsor to be given the shirt from the player at the Quarters - chance of a picture and some coverage ? Its really not that difficult ...

Yet another case of the club pricing being to steep. For several years the FFSC sponsored several players a season for quite reasonable costs and also sponsored several games and achieved discounted hospitality prices for good numbers of members attending. I think it’s fair to say the demise of the FFSC was partly due to the clubs increased prices for sponsorship/ hospitality etc.

The first question I would ask is who is charged with selling it?
Answer that one, it might lead to other questions, but that's where I would start because it's another sense of demise and appears to be eroding from where we were pre COVID.

Its really not that difficult ... We sponsored a player in the promotion season. You are correct, got sent a shirt in the post after the season for our trouble and that was that. Oh, wasn’t even signed. Had to send it off to the player directly as he had gone back to his club. Apart from that shitshow, not once has anyone at the club tapped us up to do it again despite 3/4 years of sponsorship. It’s just bad business.

As a group of fans who have fundraised via a 50/50 after games, we have sponsored young players since the conference season.
We would hold an end of season draw for a few of the syndicate to go to the sponsors meet the players event. There was a nice buffet and drinks and a chance to meet all the players before the Fun Day and recieve the signed sponsored shirt and have photos. Every year we were invited to make our choice of which young pro we would like to sponsor. So at that point everything was really good and well run.
Since Mr Bright took over, the planning and organisation went from bad to worse and the sponsorship money went up and up and the food and drink less and less.
I had to regularly chase him for details, there were lost payments and to cap it all after sponsoring two young players during the covid season and doing on line draws, we were told we couldn't have the promised places (4 guests per sponsored player) to meet the players at the next available season, as it was for current seasons sponsors only, so when we should have had 12 guests we could only have 4.
I think he was just out of his league. If it was something he was interested in, apparently he was very good, but if he lad little interest he displayed very little customer service, common sense, or organisation skills.
Hopefully from next season, the player sponsorship will be reviewed and be more like good old days.

How do you even sponsor a player I can’t see a link on the player page?

I have noticed over the last week a lot more sponsored tweets and partner "news" on the Rovers X account. Maybe they are starting to get things together? Expect goal announcements "courtesy of Keith's Burger van" and "this transfer news brought to you by Erictifix - guaranteed to get you hard" soon!
Joking aside, the right people doing the right job they are skilled and paid for is clearly needed. Cutting costs is all fine, but a team is needed to maximise income generation as well as "customer" satisfaction. We will see.
