Istm, with an unbeaten run you can sometimes limp along doing your best not to lose, to continue your run.
Sometimes, istm, psychologically it might be detrimental to a winning mentality.
Last 8 games, losses, points Haircuts, 2, 16 BRFC, 0 16 Macc 2, 18 Grim, 2, 16 FGR, 2, 16
If we'd lost at Woking, and come out determined to put things right today and won, 3 points.
Limping along with our unbeaten run, trying not to get beaten, in both games, 2 points.

It's true that the more draws you get, the less value there is in being undefeated. You could draw every game and get relegated. DC was ranting on the radio to this effect: he says he wants to win, not be undefeated.
Having said that, I'm surprised he didn't play Dawson from the start, but then again he did pick three strikers.

he says he wants to win, not be undefeated. Trouble is, it seems that pretty much every interview for every player including DC I've heard in the last month or so has mentioned it. They must be thinking about it.

Those stats don't really prove that losing the odd game is better than being undefeated though? Another issue is if you avoid defeat against a promotion rival that stops them gaining 3 pts on you. As if Macclesfield had avoided defeat to us they could well be clear in 2nd place?

As if Macclesfield had avoided defeat to us they could well be clear in 2nd place? Sure, they weren't supposed to prove anything. Just indicate that there's nothing inherently better (points-wise) about going unbeaten. I'm more wondering about a psychological aspect of defending an unbeaten run, that might mean you can end up drawing more than your fair share.

How about the positivity come the end of season of remaining undefeated if we do make the Play Offs? Regardless it must mean we're bl@@dy difficult to beat!

To me the most interesting part of this post is that all the top teams have performed almost identically over the last 8 games. But come the play offs, we're most likely to get through them as we don't lose matches.
That's the biggest positive to take from this unbeaten streak/this season.
