If Evans is going into his last season this summer he is a priority to sign up again on a longer deal. On current form he’s worth Championship money in my opinion.

Absolutely agree. Needs to be signed up for at least another season so we can maximise a transfer fee. Hes going to get enquiries in the summer for sure.

He’s taken plenty of penalties the last 2 and a half seasons, can’t ever remember him missing one?
Unless I’m mistaken🧐

His prerogative to sit out his last year and cash in by leaving on a free the next year if he wishes - hope he doesn’t of course as our best player by a distance imo.

Don’t see him as that sort of player Eric, to want to sit out. I love the way he hates making a mistake, the emotion he shows and criticism of himself during games. He’s a joy to watch, some of his flicks and drag backs are top quality stuff, I will still stand by and say I think he was decent last season. I’d also get Finley signed up if possible, even if he’s not starting week in week out, he’s got a winning mentality, I apologise for doubting his signing.

It’s hard to say what any of us would do in his situation. I’ve no idea how much extra you can earn in weekly wage as a free agent versus weekly wage after your new club pays a big transfer fee (or what size of signing on fee you can get as a free agent - if it was a couple of hundred grand for example that could be huge for a player at this level and for their family. Fingers crossed the club “make him an offer he can’t refuse”. !!!

Would try and tie him down as soon as possible. A core of Taylor / Evans / Conteh / Thomas / Martin is what we should building around.

I wonder how much influence we have as fans.
If you are appreciated at work is a big thing. We all make mistakes in all walks of like but you feel if he had a howler he has credit in the bank so would not have too much stick. It seems Collins before Saturday was not getting too much love. It's not always greener, despite more dosh.
Evans has a great chance of the SC player of the year, voted by the fans. Would that have any influence on any decision to stay or go?

Would that have any influence on any decision to stay or go? he's had a stop-start career. You'd think an improved contract, virtually guaranteed starter, possible captaincy and loved by the fans would be worth something. But its a short career, just so often a small move up, is not the success they hope. Snake anyone?!

Modern football, unfortunately, but maybe we’ll be in a position to make him a really good offer.

Modern football, unfortunately, but maybe we’ll be in a position to make him a really good offer. It is modern football. We have to sometimes remember that although we may lose out from time to time we benefit by getting players in on freebies as well. The Bosman ruling can be frustrating when you lose a good player for nothing but for many years before that clubs could just hold a players registration and effectively take them hostage. The current system has to be better.
