From watching recent games Rovers have developed a habit of using throw ins to launch the ball upfield close to the touch line and more often than not, dont retain possession. Whereas, Orient yesterday invariably found one of their using a variation of moves. Surely opposing coaches will be alive to our practice and have their tactics prepared to deal with this.
Having said that, yesterday's performance was a great watch.

No matter who the manager/coach is, or the players are - we have been incapable of taking good throw-ins for decades

The issues with throw-ins have been on-going for years.

I know some prem clubs have set piece and throw in coaches. Perhaps we’ve recruited our own from the Downs League. “Work the line” !!!!!

Penrice and purnell always seemed to find space to receive the ball as well

Yeah for all it's stick by purists, the John Beck style, throw it to a centre back 5 yards away, who wellied it into the opposition penalty area and the Gary Kimble long, long throws were very successful if not very pretty.
Plus the ball boys adding sand on wet balls tactic for throws.
The dark arts!!

At Twerton we would start in our own half taking repeated throw ins to Devon White working up the pitch until we got to the opposition penalty box. Then Devon would stand at the near post to receive long throw ins and mostly win a back header to the far post for Penny and co to simply put it in the net. Got us to the Championship. We now have a 6" 5" replacement in the squad, should we use this tactic occasionally

Long throw up the line, pick up the second ball. Can put the other team on the back foot, even better if you turn them around so they are facing their own goal. Not long ball but standard tactics for high press, second ball teams.

See loads of foul throws but never seem to be pulled up on them

Ricky Lambert was good at not only receiving a throw to his feet but holding on to possession. Since then, and before, it’s been players running around not really wanting it and pointing to others to avoid the responsibility. MT will sort it😜
