Is it me or others as well that don't have a clue what this Tom Gorringe thread is about, I hope there are others out there I don't like being alone. It’s a ten page thread about somebody who has left the club and hasn’t left the club. Rest assured you’re not on your own as regards this thread, but from what I understand it’s just another thread slagging off our CEO in this case.

And I would suggest many other CEO’s of many other clubs! We were however the only club to sign a sponsorship deal against the rules and having to quickly cover up one of the sponsors with tape. Both companies, the first gambling sponsors in the clubs history had gone bust within two years of them being on our shirts.

Will have to take your word that “we were the first club”, as nothing in that link tells me that. But that’s just not picking as far as I am concerned, many other clubs were taken in by this scam for want of a better word.

I apologise for rewording “we were however the only club”, to we were the first club. Like I said earlier I am quite happy to take your word for what you say , but to be honest I don’t intend scouring through media reports about the subject and as far as I am concerned it’s just another excuse to bash TG, on a thread in which the original post telling us that he had left the club., was clearly incorrect.

Well by signing the deal with Football Index and Mint Bet it broke League rules on sponsorship, only two betting sponsors can be present on shirts (Football Index and Sky Bet League One patches). That's why we had to wear the Community Trust on the shirt in the league but could have Mint Bet in the Papa John's Trophy...

Ancient history as far as I am concerned and your two photos back that up. Who cares, I certainly don’t and as far as I am aware the club has not incurred any financial penalty for doing so and the fact will never be a question on Mastermind in the future. For the final time I repeat the OP on this thread is totally incorrect and the person named is still employed by the club.

It's also part of an ongoing issue where the CEO is completely out of his depth. Nevermind!

I'd just like us to act like a professional institution rather than aimlessly staggering around being run by absolute bums.

Seems to me there’s a lot of accusations of “slagging off” or “hatred” of TG.
Some on here are making accusations without any evidence to back up their statements, or suggesting that TG should be sent to prison simply for some of his mistakes which are not prison worthy. Indeed I think it’s unfair to criticise him for the Mint Bet or Football Index sponsorship which seemed like good commercial opportunities for us at the time.
However there are also some very valid questions being raised about his leadership which it seems is unfair to be brushed off with such labels instead of justifying why those valid concerns aren’t concerns at all? Seems a bit lazy to me to just describe that as “hating” on him.

Have to say 11 pages of slagging a bloke off without providing zero concrete evidence is a bit of a stretch.
Yes, the sponsorship deals in the first season were a schoolboy error, but I’m inclined to put that down to naievity. He got rid of a lot of loyal club servants, but please remember how absolutely awful the club was run for the first 20 years at the Mem.
Under Dunford / Craig / Higgs we were Royston Vasey FC, a local club for local people. It was basically running the club like you would a corner shop, with similar ambition. A particular highlight for me was the launch of the Share Scheme were if you wanted to buy shares collectively the price offered by the club (and accepted by the SC) valued us at the same amount as Celtic.
Is Gorringe better than what we had? A hundred times yes. Is he perfect? Absolutely not, I’m sure there are better out there. But he’s not the devil incarnate either. Some of the people who went arguably deserved to go, others like Screen Soccer were crapped on from a great height. But the club need massive reform when Wael came in, bringing it fit for the 21st Century. There have been mistakes, but the green shoots are starting to grow.
Maybe we should all ask ourselves why we tolerated ineptitude for so long?

I thought Gorringe was thought of as the dogs dangly bits. Has this view only changed since he got his promotion?
