60 points is a solid base to build on. Disappointing goal difference though. A complete rebuild would be a disaster though in terms team unity. 3 or 4 quality signings who play consistent well and are capable of playing up is the way to progress. Teams like Wrexham are flying high , not because of tactics or formations, they simply have more better players than most of the other teams. The type of players who don’t need to be told what to do, they adapt slightly during the game to counter / exploit weaknesses.

Goal difference (under various managers/owners and with completely different sets of players) has been a huge problem for many seasons. If we exclude seasons where we were promoted, there are only two 'normal' seasons since 2000/01 where we finished with a positive goal difference (04/05 +3 and 08/09 +18). Every other season where we didn't get promoted it's been negative: -4 (relegated), -20, -7, -11, -8, -8, -11, -34 (relegated), -10, -9, -11 (relegated), -2, -16, -3, -11, -30 (relegated) and -15.

Probably right , a normal distribution would mean 12th and above will be a positive number.

It's the first time in a while I've looked at our actual run-in to the end of the season. When you look at it the chances are every opponent (bar Wigan on the last day) will be fighting for promotion or to avoid relegation.
Sometimes that seems to suit us. If they're needing a win for promotion (Bolton and Peterborough) we seem to do well against teams who - because of their style of play and the need to get three points not settle for one - give us space.
If they're at the bottom (Port Vale, Cheltenham, Cambridge) *if* we can keep it tight in the early parts of the game and/or take the lead they will also potentially open themselves up later on and give us chances.
Eight games to go. With the right mindset those games could easily bring 18 points rather than the 10 the computer suggests. Tenth place and a positive goal difference would - given everything that has gone on this season - be a solid finish we can build on.

For me after all the ups and downs and with the mad one getting sacked and new owners coming in (not too sure about them just yet) I will be happy staying up and allowing Taylor some time to get the club organized. Supporting the gas since 1957 so still hoping some messiah will lead us to the promised land. UTG Stoney

UTG Stoney For me Taylor has to get a winning mindset in place now and carry it over into next season, no matter how many players leave or how many new players come in over the summer. When was the last time we had a good end to a season that didn't end in a promotion?
