Sad news today, Larry Lloyd has passed away. A true giant of the game and one of Rovers finest exports.

One of the great centre half’s. Over 400 total appearances for Liverpool and Forest alone and many honours along the way. It was no surprise when Liverpool came calling after his form with us at a very early age. Have said it before but without a doubt our most successful home grown player of all time. RIP Larry.

I think his sister was club secretary at one time. I seem to remember Brian Clough kicking him off of the team bus because he wasnt wearing a club tie or blazer. RIP Larry

Very sad. Saw him partnered with Stuart Taylor around 1968, an immense defensive partnership. So pleased I managed to get his autograph, along with others from the era at the time. Although he didn't play many games for us, Bill Shankly saw his potential as a replacement for Ron Yeats at Liverpool. Think we got £50k for him, which was a good deal of money at the time.
RIP Big Man.

Sad news indeed. Played all his games for us throughout the 68-69 season and got noticed because of our good cup run to the 5th round before losing at Everton. Part of the almost unchanging centre half partnership with Stuart T. He had a great career with Cloughie getting the best out of him in that great team at Forest. Condolences to family and friends.
RIP Larry and thanks for the memories.
UTG!

His Mum and Dad owned a florists in Westbury Park in the road in which I lived when I was a boy so it wasn't unusual to see him around. My main playing memory of him was when he was playing for Forest in a cup-tie at Eastville, he was getting a lot of stick from the North Enclosure and eventually he turned and gave a double V sign to the crowd with a big grin on his face!
Kind regards

Enjoyed seeing him when playing for the Rovers and shocked when Liverpool took him. Think a lot of people felt Stuart Taylor deserved a move at the time. Had a great career though and a true gas legend for sure. RIP condolences to all his family and friends

Sad news for the local lad that made good after leaving Rovers. An ever present in the side until nearly the end of the season and part of the side that put up that historic performance againstEverton in the FA cup which clinched his transfer from a watching Bill Shankly. First came across him in a match against Manor Farm boys’ club on the pitch opposite Horfield parish church.Biggest player on the pitch and to rub it in he scored a hat trick against me in goal for Broad Plain boys’ club

Very sad news. To be good enough to play for Shankly and Clough is some accomplishment. Plus the European Cups. What a player. RIP.

Condolences to Family and friends, Think Larry's success surprised a few but he did what you wanted a c/half to do in those days and his record proves he did it better than most , we could do with his like now! what a partnership with Stuart Taylor, short though it was, Stuart the gentle giant but there was nothing gentle about Larry! Thanks for the memories Larry!
