Far play to the club encouraging fans to attend the pre-season matches this summer but £250 a night with no hotel transfers (or flights) seems a bit expensive?

I expect a few will go in the hope they can say they witnessed the end of our goal drought

What a waste of money. Why dont they do pre-season at Brean or a boot camp?
Would save the club a fortune. (Are the accounts out yet?)
It will either be too hot so they can't train properly, or it will be similar weather to here.
Great, we only lose by one goal in a behind the doors friendly to a Europa League team, but how is tika taka type football any real practice for Shrewsbury away on a cold winter evening.

Club organises usually Med pre-season camp - why are we wasting money - where's the accounts.
Club doesn't organise usual Med pre-season tours - we've clearly no money - where's the accounts to prove we've no money.

If the weather is similar to here then perhaps we need to go to the arctic circle instead so we’re better prepared for a cold night in Shrewsbury?

I'd be interested if we play Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.

I think it's brilliant of the club to try and sort out accommodation for fans and yes it is a bit pricey but it's the first week of the school holidays so welcome to the world of having kids and paying through the roof to go abroad.

I would'nt say a waste of money if this sort of thing floats your boat. But for me a summer holiday/break is not something I would want to do connected to football. I could just imagine telling my partner about we are going for a lovely holiday in Portugal and when we get there . Oh look Rovers are playing a friendly here. I think I'll stick to cruising.

Hate to sound negative and fair play to anyone going, hope you have a great time; but as a loss making business this seems like a very unnecessary and avoidable cost.
Some fag packet calculations:
30 people (including support staff) is 15 rooms @ 250 x 5 nights £93,750
30 flights @ £200 (probably a low estimate considering school holidays and doubt they're flying with Ryanair luggage restrictions) £6,000.
100k before any other expenses?

Perhaps they could offer decent prices for kids at home games before a meaningless pre season friendly tour. Yet again the club are out of touch with youngsters.

I hardly think youngsters are worried about the club doing a pre-season foreign training camp? Given we've done one all the time Wael was our sole owner then why would we stop doing one now we have two co-owners. Whether we actually gain anything from doing one is another matter.

It was tongue in cheek, with the crazy prices for fifteen year olds at home, yet expecting people to pay £250 a night. Just shows management out of touch with their fan base.

You normally make two entirely contradictory points over at least two posts but here you've saved time and intellectual bandwidth by doing it in one. Very well done you.

Christ, I do my fair share of moaning, but it's entirely optional to go watch the team in pre season. And they are for the benefit of the players not really for the supporters. Not sure why some of you are complaining.

The club can’t win, last year they got accused of not telling fans in advance, now it’s a waste of money and too expensive, £250 per night all inclusive and match tickets is for two people, £125 each per night in Albufeira in July is not bad. These trips are more about team building then anything else.

Not sure you’re picking up on the sarcasm - try this version: Club organises usual Mediterranean pre-season camp; Fans: “Why are we wasting money - where are the accounts?” Club doesn't organise usual Mediterranean pre-season camp; Fans: “We've clearly no money - where are the accounts to prove we've no money?” Does that make more sense?

What I don't get is and it also applies when I argue the club need to completely redevelop the east side, not just extend it.
Why is there an opinion and the very low expectation that we can't have a decent pre season abroad or should expect a modern stadium..it's like our fans always just happy with the cheapest option and that's it.
