Hello everyone We are a group of Gasheads who are raising money for Bristol City fan Oskar Pycroft by running the Bristol 10k in May. We’re doing the training and the racing, we want you to do the giving! Every little helps - Rovers fans have already shown their hearts by donating to this campaign to the tune of thousands of pounds, so let’s push it along that little bit further. Click here to donateIf you fancy a crack at the Bristol 10k and want to pitch in with our efforts, you’re more than welcome! Drop me a message and we’ll get you involved - all abilities welcome, all you need to provide is your legs, enthusiasm, an entry fee for the 10k and your efforts in badgering people to donate! Just a reminder of what this is about: Oskar Pycroft is six years old and unable to sit, stand or walk independently as he suffers from severe cerebral palsy. Oskar’s mum Lizzy is trying to raise £50,000 so he can have a selective dorsal rhizotomy, an operation he is unable to receive on the NHS. This operation will help reduce the pain that Oskar is in and hopefully enable him to walk independently. Cheers all UTG!

Yes, I'm pondering whether getting the participants to email in their accounts of running round and round Eastville Park (or wherever) will be a cash-winner! Still, earlyish days, got a couple of other ideas to chase up around this once my personal life has settled down after a crazy couple of weeks. We have four months until race day to fundraise and it's been a steady start so far

Ask yourselves sincerely, ''why are we doing this?''
If you'd seen on Facebook or Twitter, or even an article in the Bristol Post, saying that '''A mother is trying to raise money for her son, a young boy from Bristol, who needs money for treatment of a serious condition'', with no mention at all about football and who the boy supports. Would you have given it a second look?
Can you honestly say that you would have got yourselves together as a group of ''Gasheads'' to raise funds for this young boy?? I'm pretty sure you can't.
How many sh!theads would have given it a second look, in the same situation? Again, very few. Because to us as football fans (blue & red) he' would be a person who very sadly is disabled, amongst the millions of others throughout the world, who you don't know or REALLY care to think about.
To them, it just so happens that he's a Bristol City fan, so now I see why they as Bristol City fans wanted to help out. As he is one of them. That's the only reason they're doing anything, no other reason.
To us, it just so happens he's a Bristol City fan. We don't like Bristol City, they are our hated rivals.
Obviously this situation should have nothing to do with football rivalry, because a young boy is severely disabled and really needs help, and I would love to see him get help, along with all the other disabled people in the world.
But I can't help but be uncomfortable with the fact that if he wasn't a BRISTOL CITY fan, you wouldn't be doing it!! Don't you think that's strange?
My only guess would be that you're the same type of ''Gashead'' who didn't want to go to Trashton for the last derby, because Bristol City fans are ''too violent'. So, what? Are you hoping that the sh!theads will say ''aww, how lovely of the gas to be helping us, we won't be so nasty to them from now on''. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's the only reason I can imagine you're doing it!
Just think, BRISTOL CITY FC don't REALLY care. If they did, Lansdown would've just quickly got his cheque book out and gave them the amount they need (an amount that is like loose change to him!).
Everytime I'm on the forum I see this thread in the list and it just bothers me, and I've signed up simply to say what I've thought for weeks:
Stop kissing the sh'theads asses, cus that's all you're doing!
