Has joined Taunton Town on a consultancy basis.
The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Martyn Starnes who will be assisting the club’s Board on a consultancy basis.
Martyn has been involved with football all his life, with his positions having included Chief Executive roles for Bristol Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Yeovil Town and Swindon Town. As well as being a qualified accountant, Martyn’s expertise will be invaluable in supporting Karl Lindsay and the Board as we come to the end of the current season and prepare for next.

I'd rather have Seaman Staines if that's an option?

So that's Taunton relegated and entering into administration. Its like inviting King Herod to baby sit for you on Christmas Eve.

Blimey. I follow Taunton Town but wouldn’t presume to call myself a fan. They have 3 games in 5 days to save their NLS position which looks a tad unlikely. I don’t think MS can do too much harm in that time! But to be fair to him he should bring value to the directors of the club which tbh looks to have grown very quickly beyond the infrastructure they had before. Good luck to him and Taunton.
UTG!

That worked out well then.
Relegated tonight losing 1 nil, he’s a card that bloke.

Racing certainty, he couldn't win a one ticket raffle.

That worked out well then. Relegated tonight losing 1 nil, he’s a card that bloke. Not sure what he could have done in 1 week at board level to prevent relegation, but hey ho. When someone ever mentions Martyn Starnes I immediately think of the interview he gave once GC had left: " Rovers - who have not played in the second tier since 1993 - are unbeaten in League One since October and just two points off an automatic promotion place. "The wheels aren't going to come off. We're very happy with the staff we have got here," Starnes added. "I'd be quite relaxed about even going through the Christmas period with the staff we have got, to be honest with you. "When we think we have got the right person, we'll make the appointment. If we have got people who are available and can attend interviews as early as this week then we may see them. "We're fourth in the league - it's a very attractive job for the right person."" www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50827403We then drew at home to Peterborough with Kevin Maher in charge (who has gone on to do quite well as a manager at Southend since) But then recruited Ben Garner who managed to pick up 10 points in 15 games (2W, 4D, 9L) putting us in 14th place (before COVID curtailed our season). The wheels had well and truly come off !!

To be fair to Taunton Town, they only got promoted last season and I think that was the highest level they had ever played at?
