Bristol Rovers FC is delighted to announce that the management of Bristol Rovers Women will return to the Club ahead of the 2024/25 season.
After an 18-year absence, the Gas Girls will once again form part of the Bristol Rovers family and fall under the management of the Club’s senior leadership team, led by Chairman Hussain AlSaeed.
The agreement will see Bristol Rovers Women play their home games at The Memorial Stadium from the start of the new campaign, as the Gas Girls prepare for life in the National League after securing first place in the South West Women's Football League Premier Division.
Bristol Rovers Women have sat within the Club’s Community Trust since its reintroduction in 2019 and has achieved immense success over the last five years, securing three promotions and contributing greatly to the growth of women’s football in the local community.
“Welcoming Bristol Rovers Women back into the Club fold is a proud day for all of us,” Mr. AlSaeed said. “Ensuring a ‘one-club’ policy across all of our squads at Rovers has been a priority of mine since joining, and it is a pleasure to finally be able to say ‘welcome home’ to the Gas Girls.
“Under the management of the Community Trust, the team have done exceptionally well over the last five years and my sincere thanks goes to Chairman Rod Wesson, the trustees, CEO Adam Tutton, women’s team manager Nathan Hallett-Young and the team for their hard work and effort in growing, promoting and developing the side.
“We now look forward to an exciting and ambitious future for the Gas Girls. I am excited to work closely with the squad, the coaching team, and our staff at Bristol Rovers to instil an infrastructure that allows the side to progress even further through the divisions and compete at the top end of women’s football.”
Community Trust CEO Adam Tutton said: "I am incredibly proud that Bristol Rovers FC have kindly agreed to take over the management and financing of our women's team.
"The Gas Girls was formed in the spring of 2019 by Bristol Rovers Community Trust, the clubs official charity, with a focus on community, education, participation and performance. Our ambition was to bridge the gap between amateur and professional football, offer educational opportunities for girls in sport through our education programme, build an inclusive community within the club and work alongside other organisations and charities who represented our values.
"It is a privilege to say that we have exceeded our ambitions both on and off the pitch, none of which would have been possible without the efforts of our incredible team of volunteers and our supportive sponsors, all of whom I thank greatly.
"As the Club now moves forward, I would like to personally thank Hussain Al-Saeed, Abdullatif Al-Saeed and Wael Al-Qadi for their commitment to further support its growth, development and success."

Glad in general but is our pitch really good enough to sustain all those extra matches? The south west corner has been something akin to a muddy bog in recent weeks. Why not have them play at The Quarters with a small temporary stand that they can fill, and then have a couple of the bigger fixtures at The Mem?

Apart from fans not being allowed they also need other facilities now they have been promoted such as club house etc.

Imagine there’s quite a step up in class going into a national league . Playing at the Mem should help attract the better players that they’ll need .

Interesting that the women Sh!t are likely to be relegated today, but I don't feel any joy in this, as we all would with the Mens team.
Perhaps when we progress up the leagues the rivalry will kick in ?

If the pitch will stand up to it I'd like to see a back to back pair of games on the same day.

Not sure how many teams are in the division. Last season was 9 teams so only 8 home league games plus cup games. Its squeezed into a shorter period but I'd hope the pitch can cope with a few more games. If they can shorten the turnaround time then a double header sounds a good idea. I think the FGR game was a couple of hours after the men's fixture.
