Advert : Young, hungry, semi professional footballers wanted for a chance of League One football, a sensible wage, and the chance to prove yourself. A few days of open auditions and MT picks the best. Surely this is as likely to succeed as listening to agents, or picking up players already on the merry go round. Not MT's style, He likes to ship out youngsters and make room for older experienced players over 30 ( See his Rotherham days). I guess that why they need a bigger treatment room at he quarters! Not a fair comparison since that was in the Championship. On a limited budget he was hardly going to play kids against the big clubs at that level. Totally different in L1 and we shall see what he does, unless the pitchfork mob force him out.

Well according to various websites we paid over £2 million more last year than Peterborough. They get kids from non league on the way up - we get people used to higher wages on the way down. £2m more than Lincoln as well - same thing Peterborough have been successful with this model for a fair few seasons now, however they buck the trend. The usual outcome each season is basically the big spenders are at the top the smaller spenders finish bottom. Of course every club would love to spend little, produce their own talent, pick up bargains, sell on players for big profits but the reality is it’s very hard to do and very often sadly fails.

Can anybody understand MT's comments about L1 being harder next season, surely if Bolton or Posh, join Pompey & Derby that'll be 3 of the biggest L1` clubs promoted? I can't see Wrexham spending anything those 3 do on players wages?

I can't see Wrexham spending anything those 3 do on players wages? The general view on here was in agreement, that was when Sheff Weds looked like they were going down. Rotherham, Huddersfield and Birmingham/Argyle Will they be as strong as the three going up? Then there is Stockport and Wrexham that in another post you suggested that they would be giving promotion a go next season. So, maybe it will be more difficult? All 5 of those sides can have bigger budgets than us, due to their revenue streams.

Midfielder George Evans, the Red Dragons' top earner at £7,200 per week, instantly becomes one of the costliest players in the division. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ryan-reynolds-wrexham-wages-salary-32635391 From what I've heard, even Stockport are paying Nick Powell about £6k per week.

So why cant we " buck the trend" as well? it does take a longer view but Randall the Peterborough guy who scored against us and Bolton the other day - and who to my mind was their best player - was signed from Exeter where he had been part of their academy . Do you need me to suggest who the manager was when he was coming through?
