Surely the "normal" in that statement refers to tickets and not people. But let's not let that get in the way of giving the Tommy Gulag a kicking. Very poorly worded then, referring to "disabled fans", "normal fans" and "older fans". it was never intended as a statement to the fans but is just a colloguially written comment that was never intended to be anything other than a simplified genrtalisation.

incidentally - definition of normal in a dictionary is -"conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected."
Thesaurus suggests alternative words - " usual, average or expected."

Can blame whomever you want, argue whatever you want, but it happened Given it happened, how come there is no apology for any offence caused from the club? Like that is a 2 second job We are a PR disaster every other day/week it seems. Still time for Netflix to get in touch.

Absolutely no surprise as the clubs back office recruitment standards are pathetic. If this response however did come from a Senior Official they need a wake up call - Sadly I am not surprised by this lack of awareness ! Sounds to me that it was a typical "private" email sent by TG, baffling why the SC thought it was OK to post it on their website whoever it was from. A CEO with that level of English launguage use, should be jailed. Calling the grammar police now.

It’s worth saying at this point - we don’t know who wrote or sent the email to the supporters club.
We just know it was poorly written, didn’t address or answer season ticket purchasers concerns and has caused offence.

I'm not sure I can understand the fuss about this - what exactly IS the correct expression for people who are not disabled? The way I read it is that disabled cards will be free to users and normal - all other? cards will cost £15. Strikes me this is yet another "let's have a go at TG" type of post. As it happens, I talked with a disabled fan and asked if the reply was offensive and he laughed his socks off! So you are comfortable with the club disregarding disabled fans/people as ‘normal’? Because that is very clearly how it is worded. “We have provided all disabled fans through Clare to get FREE cards for them upon request. As for normal fans and older fans they can purchase the card for 15 pounds”. Absolutely rank. The lengths some go to to defend anything to with the club is embarrassing

As bad as anyone might consider it, I am sure it was not done intentionally to cause offence. I just find it absolutely astonishing that The CEO/The club hasn't issued a simple apology for any offense caused and the one thing seen is a deleted tweet trying to shrug it off. As for answering or not the concerns/questions of the fans. If someone has managed to send an email on behalf of the club, how have the club not communicated anything officially. I wouldn't answer a work query like that to a customer, without some sort of authorisation from a senior manager, and if a senior manager/executive sent it, then Jesus H, even more reason for some proper club comms

TG's deleted tweet on the other thread also covering this subject, didn't indicate it wasn't sent by him, just that it was meant to be a private email? Regardless why coulthe club just release an official announcement today?

About 10 years ago i was normal but age takes its toll . I am still not quite sure why i should be insulted as the use of the term was not intended to be offensive . Does any disabled person feel insulted by the comment ?

An apology or clarity wouldn't go amiss perhaps, but I wouldn't get too wound up over it. The lack of facilities is far more insulting imo.

Very poorly worded then, referring to "disabled fans", "normal fans" and "older fans". That wasn't how I read it. I think the intention was to say concession tickets and normal tickets. I can understand how it's been misunderstood, but I don't think that was the intention and frankly, I don't believe the SC do either. The sensible course of action would have been to double check the intent (if there was any ambiguity) not just publish it knowing it made someone look a twat. Unless the intention was to make someone look a twat. I'm no Gorringe fan, but I think he's been deliberately misrepresented here. Not sure I agree with some of that. The SC asked a question and they published the reply. They didn't make the words up or comment on them in any way. Their interest was in the reply about the cost of a physical ticket. And it was published. They say 'as promised' although I can't find a link where they promised they would publish a reply. I'm sure TG or whoever wrote it meant no offence and it has been jumped on and completely misinterpreted, but it was at best clumsy wording. From what I've seen and read about the SC club I would think they are surprised about the hoo-hah concerning the word 'normal'. They were probably expecting some noise about the refusal to backtrack on the £15. Personally I don't believe some old wizened hack in the SC read the club response and published because they knew the trouble that would arise from the words chosen. It's just a bit of an unfortunate amateur mishap, which is of course business as usual. An apology for any office caused might have nipped it in the bud. To say it was private and shouldn't have been published is missing the point by some distance. Although to be fair an apology would probably have caused as much trouble. Who proof reads the Head of Comms releases? Probably nobody.

My theory is:
SC emails TG TG emails Owners Owners email TG TG forwards to SC SC publish
The reason that the tweet got deleted is that TG has got himself into a pickle with the owners by forwarding their response to him. I don't think they thought that he would be sharing that response.
The response to a private email is the response from the owner to him, rather than his response to the SC being a private email.
