Couldn't make the 7-0 game, City were out of it after the penalty so expected to win by the final whistle. Mansell's penalty was too nervey.
Igoe's goal was great, but for pure excitement (if that's the gauge), I'd have to go for Browner.

Dont think I ever celebrated quite like for Igoe's goal (had been drinking a while!) Probably would have been beaten by the 7-0 celebrations if they hadnt been interrupted with the stoppage and worry the game would be abandoned!

All week before the Teds giving it the biggun saying how they were going to win easily. Then we battered them . Pure footballing bliss .

Don't get me wrong, I loved it and the day after. 😃 But for pure unadulterated joy at the final whistle bearing in mind when the goal was scored, the timings couldn't have been better.

Wasn't here for the City game - before my time, but it's fairly close between Daggers & Scunthorpe.
Think Daggers just about shades it purely on the basis of it being the last minute and being the winning goal after missing how many opportunities?!

I'm sure if I had gone to the 2nd May 1990 game and been old enough to appreciate the magnitude then that would surely top the list. But I was only 9 and only going from time to time and not particularly following the league or anything at that age. All subsequent promotions have been pretty special ever since. But for pure adrenaline release it has to be Browner's last minute winner at home to Dagenham. That was unreal. Time was running out and we kept missing (or the keeper saving) everything we threw at them. To do it in injury time (on the rebound after hitting the post) can surely never be topped. The 7-0 was great too, of course.. but it was more of a gradual build up in the 2nd half as goal after goal went in. The 7th was insane, but it almost felt inevitable after the others had piled in. Scunthorpe just didn't turn up. If we needed to win by 8 then we would have. Igoe's goal was to make it 3-1 and so we were pretty much already there (not that it felt like that at the time) ... and the penalty shootout was excruciatingly painful (after an unusually dire match) albeit with a happy ending (oo-er) Would happily take a nice, boring season next season where we just casually (but comfortably) win more points than all the other teams

Wow - five crackers there. Manse for me: could we have dragged ourselves up the next season if we'd not won that shootout? We could've been Yeovil ...

We don't do normal promotions do we... All special in their own right...
Remember fondly the "here we go again" conceding in the play off final to Shrewsbury early on after doing it in the windscreen shield final...
Beating the sh!t is always great, but doing it on a promotion is the cherry on the cake..
To be honest I just can't choose

Southend away - well you never forget your first time😉 Otherwise, Browner I think Just for the DC run down the touch line & his face when piling in with the players.

Sami Igoe in 2007 was so memorable. I’d been watching rovers for some 15 years and never seen a promotion up to that point.
Wasn’t it 40,000 Gasheads?

I was at Twerton for the 💩game, Wembley v The Fish and the scunny game
For pure joy and the unbelievable nature of what we did, the 7-0 will forever hold the top spot for me, especially as I got to live it with my son

What about 1974?
But if it’s excitement you want I guess it’s the 7-0 but the ‘74 was great. It’s very exciting when from the first match in August you know you’re going up! Not going to happen like that anytime soon. ☹️
UTG!

However the nil nil draw at Southend to confirm promotion doesn’t rank with these other games tbh.

But the whole season was very exciting watching the best team in the league! UTG!
