I have studied history all my life ,has anyone noticed the use of BCE and CE creeping into historical writings instead of BC and AD. Apparently this is because other religions might get upset as the Gregorian calendar becomes widely used. Political correctness gone mad again,it's been ok for 2000yrs just leave alone!!

It can trace its lineage back to the 17th century, pretty interchangeable although I'm more used to and prefer BC/AD despite not being religious myself.

I'm willing to bet that if we in the UK were expected to comply with a BM (Before Mohammed) and AA (Anno Allah) calendar some would never accept it and would press for change.
Can't see the issue myself. Not everyone in the world wants to acknowledge Christ or even recognises him for what he is alleged to be, by some.
It's a sensible change in recent years that harms nobody and shouldn't offend anybody.
