Appears we are interested in signing Clarke Robertson , former Blackpool, Rotherham and Portsmouth center back .Played over 200 games in the Championship and League one , a bit younger than some of the others mentioned on here. Would be a decent signing if we could get him.

You do need experience at the back, with him, Hunt and Wilson we will certainly have that!
Be interesting to see how recruitment goes and if we will set up with 3 at the back. If we do, we need to buy decent wing backs, don’t think we really had any out and out players in that position last campaign?
I’m happy that MT is identifying the defence as a priority. It’s not the glamorous side of signings but we’ve shipped far too many soft goals recently.
Get that right then start to identify the pace we desperately need

As to the defence being a priority I’m not so sure, with Taylor, Wilson, Hunt already here it certainly needs additions but I hope forwards and strikers with pace are a priority because we’re down to the bare bones in that area. And no bones at all for the first two matches so far. Long way to go. UTG!

We need to sort both defence and attack, don't want to start next season like the last one with just one centre forward. Stockport are also interested in Robertson, if we lose out to them then it could be worrying times , need to be able to offer better terms than clubs like Stockport for players. I think this standard of player is probably as much as we will get on a free transfer at this level, a player of similar quality who is available is Shayne Lavery from Blackpool. Mix experienced like these with a few players from lower leagues , such as Evans from Newport and maybe a young prolific striker(s) from non league and we may be able to build side to challenge the top six.

But you’re right we need both! 👍 UTG!

Absolutely fkin not. Who is he anyway ? How on the earth can you say we don't want him when you don't even know who is , how strange. If you have seen us play Portsmouth you will know who he is as he was their captain for a time , also played previously in the championship for Rotherham and has played for Blackpool and in the Scottish Prem .

I was just kidding. However you have raised a couple of red flags. 1. Scottish Prem. 2. Used to play in the Championship. 3. Championship bound Team who know his limitations are offloading him. Didnt we get someone with a similar Résumé last season from Plymouth……Some players look better than they actually are when they are surrounded by outstanding players in a team that walks the league. In a good team, they have more time, more space, more options, more chance of getting bailed out, less pressure……it’s almost a free ride. Put him in an average league one side (at best) and he will add no value….and we will remain an average league one side at best. To win you need quality and quality costs money. That’s how Wrexham did it, they bought better players than the level they were playing at.

Wrexham were aiming for a top 3 finish last season and spent according, our board seems to be content with a mid table finish and, you have to assume, will spend accordingly.
