Iirc the summer of ‘17, ‘18 when he was at /or going to Fleetwood after his time at Scunthorpe. (I think) A decent player then but that was 6/7 years ago. UTG!

Lewis Gordon to Chesterfield. Poor signing for the Spireites. He might do good at that level and at 23 he still has plenty of time to improve.

Lewis Gordon to Chesterfield. Poor signing for the Spireites. TBH I'd take Paul Cook's opinion over yours, even MT said he would have kept him on if we still had the funds for a bigger squad next season.

Poor signing for the Spireites. He might do good at that level and at 23 he still has plenty of time to improve. He is a tidy footballer. But I never knew if he was a left back (poor in the tackle, poor heading, weak) or a left wing back (never took his man on, never got down the wing, no real pace). In the end he was kinda in between and offered very little. I wish him luck. Maybe Cook sees something in him but for me he was poor. UTG

However poor Gordon was all 3 managers last season thought he was better than Gibson and he managed to hold down a first team place at Cambridge.
I just hope GF/MT have lined up two better left footed FB's/WB's as I am not sure there's that many about.

UTG To put this in some sort of context, he's played in 73 matches for Rovers, can anyone name another left back who's played as many games for us in the last 50 years who was equally as bad (or worse)? 🤔 Steve Cross was the only name I could think of, but he only played 43 games for us.

Vaughan Jones played left back, didn't he?

Paul Hardyman? Expensive too at a then record fee of £160,000.

Then again why have so many different managers played him 73 times if he's as bad as the forum now makes him out to be? Perhaps if he had 3 or 4 reliable defenders alongside him he might seem a better FB/WB? It'll be interesting to see how much game time he gets next season. I don't think we've ever replaced LB at LB(!) and some posters said he wasn't anything special.
