When the new season kicks off in August, Rotherham will have added five players over 30 to their squad. but actually let seven players over 30 go. Clearly Evans views there is a place for experienced over 30's in his squad.

It can quite often buy you short term success but it isn't a business model that we and many other clubs can copy due to the costs involved.

Most of the players they have signed, have been deemed not good enough for the championship at this stage of their career. They have a great chance of going up. But then they will be such with those players the following season. That's one of the reasons why they have been a yo yo club. Every club needs experience, but some of those players must be on good wages to sign so early.

A club relegated to L1 would get 11.1% of this ~£350k as well as the League 1 basic payment of ~£920k.
(There is also a 'Solidarity Payment' that all EFL clubs receive, expect those receiving Prem to Championship parachute payments. Current levels of Solidarity payments are about Championship = £5.2m, League 1 = £780k)
A long winded way of saying that Rotherham would get an extra amount of about £350k more than Rovers.

no guarantees in football, if they dont get up they could be stuck with an ageing injury prone squad, playing Evans style football

Thanks CurlyWurly, much less than I thought, so it is the "prize" of getting back into the Championship and the £3.2m that brings. Interestingly, even in the 22/23, when they were in the Championship they lost £878k, with an average crowd of 10k.

I'd back Rotherham to do well next season.
