From the article:
“Bristol Rovers are closing in on a deal to sign former Bristol City centre-back Taylor Moore on a free transfer after his departure from French second division side Valenciennes, Bristol Live understands, which will make the versatile defender their first signing of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was released by the Robins in May 2023 having made 60 appearances over the course of a seven-year stay which also included loan spells at Bury, Cheltenham Town, Southend United, Blackpool, Hearts and Shrewsbury Town. Moore then made the move to France having lived there as a boy, coming through the youth ranks at RC Lens.
Born in Walthamstow in East London before moving abroad, the defender went on to make 10 senior appearances for Lens, four of which in Ligue 1, before returning to his homeland in 2016 when signing for City in a deal that was believed to be in excess of £1million. The Englishman has over 100 appearances at League One level having most recently played in the English third tier for Shrewsbury in the 2022/23 season, during which he played 42 of the Salops' 46 league games including both against the Gas. He also has six caps for England at Under-20s level.
Moore then returned to France last summer, signing a three-year deal with Valenciennes and made 22 appearances but left in April as they eventually finished bottom of Ligue 2, the French second tier.
Although predominantly a centre-back, the 27-year-old has shown versatility in the past by also being able to play right-back and was also known to play in midfield when at Shrewsbury. Moore is expected to become Rovers' first signing of the summer transfer window and adds necessary depth and quality to Matt Taylor's options at the back, particularly after the departures of loanees Elkan Baggott and Tristan Crama back to Ipswich Town and Brentford respectively as well as Josh Grant's release with the 25-year-old often playing in defence last term.“

If he does sign it indicates that versatility and adaptability are two of the qualities in a player that are valued by the people in charge of the side now.

Hugely uninspiring signing if true, but no doubt a mate of George Friend.
One positive is that he doesn't get injured often. We'll soon see to that!
In Taylor...whatever. 🏴☠️

Maybe it's an age thing but do not like all these signings of ex City players. Another example of the club moving further away from the one I was born into over 70 years ago. When I see the attitude of players like James Wilson how can the club keep its special identity.

Decent signing if we can get him, played a fair few games in the England youth set up including 6 for the under 20's so must have a bit of talent also played nearly 50 games in the championship and is at the peak of his career at 27, so fits the sort of player we should be looking at. Seems that we are signing more and more local players' is that to do with the fact that it is expensive to move to this area for players at this level ?

In Taylor...whatever. 🏴☠️ What’s uninspiring about him ( apart from the ex Ted bit )? 27 which is a good age , experienced and once valued at a million pounds. Salop were normally quite good at the back if I remember rightly.

I'm yet to be convinced by Saint Matthew, so am probably being unfair and grumpy. UTFG 🏴☠️

He turned 27 last month, so should still have a few years left at this level. I'm not sure why he didn't play much last season, but he should be okay for League 1.

Those moaning about signing ex city players do make me laugh. Players have gone either way, since well before my time! Didn't Jason Roberts once play for City? You'd be surprised how many players started off playing at city and moving to rovers at a young age. I've even got a feeling Penrice played for city youth? That's just two players who were fantastic for us. I remember Taylor Moore being very highly rated, still at a good age, hopefully can rediscover his form, if so, sounds like good business to me.

Probably down to players who know the area more willing to move back here and also stay here for more than one season? Signing players like Max Ehmer and Stefan Payne was a total disaster and the Liverpool "Scouse MAFIA" seems to have created a divide at the club.

Lot of negativity on this post . IMO I see this as a good signing. Forget he played for the sh**e that’s total nonsense. Hunt, Martin good championship players so Moore definitely an asset in my books . Good trio to build around . Stoney UTG
