When do the players report back for pre-season? Or have they done that already?

When do the players report back for pre-season? Or have they done that already? Pretty sure I saw a timetable that suggested not until like 1st July. So no point in rushing signings through ahead of then. If we get 3 coaches, 2 contract renewals and 6-8 new signings announced on the 30th June I see no problem in that. I reckon we’ve got a number of deals agreed in principle or actually signed but are holding out on making announcements.

Oh yeah - they’re probably waiting until 1st July to announce all our new signings at the same time.
I have no idea how I managed to type that without laughing . . .

Multiple players rejected us apparently. Not surprising considering the reduced budget and uninspiring manager.

Pirate clearly has contacts in the game so may know that's the case? The fact we haven't announced one single signing is hardly a good sign.

Do you think players look at the overall budget and then turn a club down? I’d understand it more if we weren’t offering enough but I can’t think that the players will ask about the overall budget. UTG! edit: sorry timsbury you beat me to it!

Well at least with this size of squad everyone will be involved on a match day and no one will feel disgruntled about being left out!!

So we could bid for the dregs, overpay and get some players in through the door early.
Or we could bid for the quality players, at a reasonable price, but run the risk of getting rejected occasionally on the way to getting a good group of players.
Rejection isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

As far as I can work out every signing a fellow league one side makes is “an amazing signing” whereas the default for anyone we are linked with is that they are crap !!!
We can now add that players are rejecting offers from us in their droves.
I’ve been a bit disappointed with our lack of activity myself so far (and also our failure to start building our squad back in the January window) but some of the stuff being posted on here is a bit OTT.

I think even more so than previous years, the loans we sign this season will be key to whether we are in a relegation battle or "overperforming" against our budget. 3 year deals for perms are a big commitment, if we can be sensible in filling the big holes (Striker, CB, LB) with perms, topped up with some youngsters then a good window in the loan market could make for a more enjoyable season. The likes of Aguilera or even Vale coming back with some exciting young talent on the wings/up front would make a reasonable rounded squad.

I am in contact with a number of agents and scouts in the game. According to them, we approached the likes of Alex Hartridge, Josh Edwards, Ronan Curtis and Joe Powell. There was apparently an interest in Jayden Fevrier, but not sure how far that got before he joined Stockport.

I'm saying I'm not surprised, considering the reduced budget.

We're never going to make anything on the transfer market developing other clubs youngsters, which apparently is the aim?

Multiple players rejected us apparently. Not surprising considering the reduced budget and uninspiring manager. Sorry. But. Unfortunately. This post is a disappointingly classic description of an underlying tendency to notice, focus on, and give greater credence to evidence that fits with existing beliefs. It is more commonly known as Confirmation Bias.

There was apparently an interest in Jayden Fevrier, but not sure how far that got before he joined Stockport. Hang on a minute … When Hartridge was mentioned as a possible signing before the vast majority said No thanks’ Curtis wanted a three year deal - good on his day but injury prone. Can you imagine the outcry if we had signed on three years. Edwards I know nothing about .. so maybe we have missed one here but no chance of competing with Charlton. Powell - People would have screamed we don’t need another midfielder. Not sure we have missed out on too much so far … I can only think of a couple where I have thought Good addition there.
