So a short summary, the political wing of the new Government organised hundreds of activists to campaign for the opponent of the new President, our current Foreign Secretary called him a neo-Nazi sympathizing sociopath, a dangerous clown and a racist KKK and Nazi sympathizer, said “...good riddance Donald. The world is relieved to see the back of you”. Almost forgot, the current Energy Secretary (Millibad, E) called him a “racist” and “misogynist”, the current Home Secretary and the wife of the current PM joined a women’s march to “take a stand against Donald Trump”, the current PM said "...an endorsement from Donald Trump tells you everything you need to know about what is wrong with Boris Johnson’s politics and why he isn’t fit to be Prime Minister..." and Trump was "...not the man “to lead the world” during Coronavirus" I wouldn't be expecting a State Dinner invite anytime soon.... Not forgetting Wes Streeting called Trump an Odious sad little man, and went on to say Imagine being proud to have that as your president. And of Course Angie saying "I am so happy to see the back of Donald Trump, but even more so to see @kamalaharris as VP.” I have a feeling the Labour front bench don't like him very much. 😂😂

Bless , our right wing friends seem to be completely unaware of the statements made by much of Trumps former cabinet calling him names very similar to those of the Labour Party.
It’s great they’re having a few minutes in the sunshine celebrating, just another 4+ years of a Labour government lads 😜

Had to pay the (excruciatingly large) balance this morning on a forthcoming family holiday to Florida.
For some reason I was much less excited than I should be.
(Although, tbf, Florida has voted for Trump every time he has been on the ticket)
Let's hope his rhetoric has been exaggerated and he is more restrained now that he is back in office.. the next 4 years will be extremely chaotic!

I'm not sure the USA can take on China in a trade war any longer. They rely on imports from them and other far eastern countries too much.
If MAGA means recovering the US's position as the dominant world trading economy, that ship has sailed.

Us handing the reigns to the US after 1945 peacefully was rare. China wanting to replace the US will be messy but maybe just a trade war.

What are you going on about? The media companies driving engagement. You can read I assume? Not sure why you feel the need to be so rude? That’s twice now and especially after you’ve just complained about Yatton being a keyboard warrior. Pot kettle black pal. In the past I’ve ignored trump nonsense and will continue unless it’s something politics and not just his extreme opinions.

There's an awful lot of this sort of thing here and especially on the other forum at the moment.
We all know who won and we all can think of reasons. The self congratulations have reached epic proportions. I hate to think how the Trumpers would have reacted if they'd lost, because they are taking the victory to heart in a rather intense and concerning way, given that it's a foreign country and none of us have any say in it. It's a little bit hysterical.

Your first part isn't much different to what's happened in the past. The name calling goes on all the time, which even his running mate has done. ...and if it was the other way around Rayner would be on the media round this morning calling for resignations - and with good reason. If he's not sacked/reshuffled soon, at some point Lammy will be in a room with Trump and the topic will be UK-US co-operation/trade or something we have to negotiate a deal over. An aide will whisper something in Trump's ear and the UK as a whole will get a worse deal because Lammy has been promoted well above his ability...

As Foreign Secretary Lammy won't be dealing with Trump directly, that'll be Starmer. Trump sees things as a business transaction, if it's good for him then he'll look past previous indiscretions. Look at Vance. No, this is being made a bigger issue for political point scoring.

I quite like the Electoral College system. Without it many states would basically become irrelevant and the candidates would focus on the large cities and ignore a lot of what the middle of the country cares about Like the situation where the candidate with the most votes loses? Is that what the middle of the country cared about in 2016 when Clinton beat Trump by 3 million votes? Well this helps me explain my point about why the Electoral College is a good system. As you note, Clinton (H) lost the election but had 2,880,691 votes more than Trump. The US is a collection of states. What's important to someone in Georgia is very different to someone in New York. If the President was elected on total votes then the 8.7m people in California who voted for Clinton mean everyone who voted in Wyoming, Maine, New England, Vermont, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Hawaii, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana, Idaho, West Virginia, New Hampshire and the District of Colombia (15 states/districts) would basically be cancelled out by one larger state. That's how the Electoral College brings balance to the Presidential election - each state is important for it's own individual reasons and without it the candidates would just focus on the larger states...
