Andy Murray retiring after losing in the men's doubles. Those BMX riders are mad!! 🫣 Anyone seen the story about the female boxer with unusually high testosterone levels? Yes I read about the boxer. She looks pretty formidable and nothing much like a woman but apparently not transgender? No, despite online rumours. Just a natural advantage as far as I understand it, however it makes weight classification difficult.

Not doing well in the boxing. They needed two medals to keep Lottery funding, we are 5 out of 6 down already. Watched most of the fights so far and I definitely think we really really haven’t had the rub of the green . Should have had at least 3 ( probably 4) getting the nod , but at least one has won . We never seem to do too well with the judges at Olympics Some of my dad's family are coaches in amateur boxing - their posts in recent days are saying they want it out of the Olympics because (and I'm quoting one of them) "...I would be embarrassed to see judging like that at my club events this weekend..."

I remember Roy Jones Jr "losing" in the final of the light middleweight division in Seoul, against a local fighter. Completely dominated the fight. But even if he`d knocked the local boy out, he probably still would have been declared the loser. Biggest robbery since Brinks Mat.

Last day, enjoyed dipping in and out and looking forward to the Paralympics.
Interesting medal table in that it's ranked on Golds won rather than medals. A country with 1 Gold is ranked higher than one with 2 Silvers.

Total medal haul is 65, beats Tokyo.

...silver and bronze have always been the tie-breakers for the gold medal tally haven't they? Participation is great but even the Olympic ideals/motto start with celebrating those who finish first...
...in other news, I've read quite a few comments suggesting this is the "best" Olympics ever. Probably the right call as long as the organisers and the French public show the same support for the Paralympics in a couple of weeks time otherwise it will still be London 2012 for me...

From watching on tv I think it was an excellent games , great crowds at all the events I saw and a good atmosphere. The big euro countries do it better I think than other nations crowd wise as they are invariably knowledgeable, think the next one will have lots of money thrown at it but will just be a bit dull in reality.

Fantastic couple of days for Para GB, currently second in the table and by some margin too.
