I’ve written a blog post on Matt Taylor’s summer and the challenges ahead as part of GasCast’s new blog, for anyone that’s interested and wants some midweek reading: open.substack.com/pub/gascast/p/rebuilding-the-gas?r=2dafta&utm_medium=iosIt’s an opinion piece so appreciate not everyone will agree with all the points - but first one I’ve done in a while so any feedback is welcome, good or bad!

"fast attacking football under Joey Barton"
I don't remember that in League one.

Thanks Max. Well written, balanced blog. Fully agree that there are those that perhaps expect too much, but it would be boring going into the season, expecting to finish in the bottom half and hoping that you wouldn´t have a relegation battle.

Your Venn diagram has Lindsay in the wrong place.
If he sits in the star quality and the 22 - 29 sections, then he has to sit in the 30 plus appearances alongside Senior, Hitchinson and Sotiriou...?
(My guess is that he shouldn't be in the start quality section)

Very good blog. I fully agree that 'he really needs Gasheads behind him'. Let's hope that all gasheads do step up and get behind him - it could be a tricky first 10 games with so many new players and we don't want negativity to set the tone for the season. Solidarity between fans, management and players is key. I feel we will do OK this season, improving as we go. UTG!

A good read and agree with most of it....there is always a dark horse so why not us As regards the venn diagram....Although I would love Ellison to play 30+ games this season I don't think it will be for us....think if he gets 10+ games in the second half of the season having gone out on loan the first part will be a great breakthrough season. I think Lindsay will be one of the first names on the team sheet....he'll be MT midfield general....setting the tempo and leading from the front....will definitely play 30+ games....IMHO

I’m hoping Taylor can smash my mid to low expectations. For clarity on the Venn diagram, poorly explained. 30+ apps refers to players who made 30+ apps in the 23/24 season, which Lindsay didn’t. I do think he has the star factor though, having won promotion twice from this level starting most games, and still only 28.
