To be fair his record as a goalscoring centre half was excellent for Cardiff, imagine him mentoring Dan Ellison for a season or two and we might have just polished our rough diamond enough for it to be worth it. Couldn't Wilson &/or Moore do that anyway, and where does Forbes also fit into the back 3? If he signs and nobody leaves or goes out on loan we'll have 7 CB's and 1 CF!! Presumably you read the piece on transfer business yet to be done? Suggestion is if we’re to play 3 cbs in a game we should aim for 6 in the squad. Connolly being young and sixth makes no sense for his career development so expect him to choose to be elsewhere. Taylor Moore and Connor Taylor should be able to start most games with their fitness records, both Wilson and Morrison would expect to available for about half our fixtures and Forbes has not been out on loan before so we don’t know if he’ll be a revelatory ever present or need managing like Crama did last term. Ellison we are still waiting to see the plans for him but whether he warms our bench or is loaned out to part timers (which enables him to still train with our first team most of the time and also makes him eligible for any reserve team or behind closed doors matches). Think things are still fluid even in positions where we believe we have relative strength and done most of our business, even if it’s not Morrison I reckon they may be looking at another arrival in defence. |
