Very good performance, not too sure of the standard in Portugal but made a club that was in their top flight last season look very ordinary. Bit annoyed that despite tickets being included with our hotel the stadium staff made us pay on the gate, but the hotel has been unreal for the money so can't really complain too much! UTG That used to happen on football day trips to London in the 60s, when you went to Soho clubs after the match.

Just watched the YouTube highlights and Griffiths made two outstanding saves. Attacking wise we didn't seem to create a lot from the highlights, with LT looking a class above the rest.

A good headed goal v Bromley and won a penalty today. Maybe Jerry might feature in the squad as an impact sub. I would expect him to feature at least in the matchday squad in some of the EFL Trophy games and possibly early FA cup if against non league. Seems strange he did not get a few minutes at the end of last season when others were only going through the motions if he was going to get a contract extension.

You can never tell . i thought that Ryan Jones looked very promising last summer but look what happened there. i notice that he captained Aldershot against a strong Birmingham side today and by all accounts scored a good goal

Going on loan to Bromley, only playing 4 games in itself is a bit strange. Then add the fact Bromley sent him back to us early and said that they will continue to pay for him until the end of the season is also very strange. It feels like there was a personality clash or something else that happened at Bromley that has lead to us ditching him. Not itk.

He was injured in his first spell and even so they still extended his contract before they sent him back, given he's now already been made captain by Aldershot it hardly seems likely that he's a hot head. The way he's going he'll be back in the football league by January.

It was all a bit odd but I just assumed they thought they would need then realised after they had extended his contract he was surplus to requirements.

Very surprised Jones was released, looked an outstanding prospect , probably why I am not a football manager!

I mean Scott Sinclair's transfer fee might have been increased, but Atkins played Jefferson Louis, Matt Macey could have made his debut in a nothing end of season game, Shaquille Hunter could have played so he would have experience of real football, without constant protection from the ref in youth team football and might have built himself up, similarly Jones and Lawrence could have a bit if experience and the manager could have looked at them and see if they sink or swim.

Hunter was played and he was absolutely useless. Nearly as bad as the then manager who played him if I am correct Mark ( mines a double scotch) McGhee.

Totally agree re Scott Sinclair. At the time, I was (in my head) screaming at Atkins to play him. It was clear that we would be off at the end of the season. Our season was over. Scotty could have played the last 15 games that season and we could have said he was a first team regular. instead he got about three lots of ten minutes and went for peanuts. All these years later, I still don't understand.
