As some of you may know, since relegation to the Conference, I have ran a post match 50/50 in the clubhouse bar with a few regulars to sponsor first year pros.
We have raised a few grand over the years and hopefully have given some of the youngsters a bit of a boost to see they have been sponsored.
This includes the ones who have done well like Alfie, Luca and Scott Sinclair (well he was in the youth team!), but also players like Jay Malpass, Conor Jones and Kieran Preston who only made the match day squad on a few occasions.
Even during covid we sponsored two players when the club needed the money and did an on line draw.
A few months ago, I asked Ethan at the club, if we could put our name down as provisional sponsors for Kofi. I have been told recently the price is £500 plus Vat.
Last year Jed was around £350 plus vat and we fell a little short of raising that mostly due to the end of season form.
We do have a few ex players shirts to sell, which should cover the shortfall, but if anyone is interested in joining our merry little band (The Clubhouse Bar Regulars), the cost is only £1 per ticket (and I can collect cash).
Prize money is roughly only about £15-£20 a match and less for midweek, but not surprisingly, more if we hammer someone, or clinch a last minute winner in a thriller. However, if more people join, the prize will be more.
You can either see me at the top of the car park near the Community Trust office where I sell programmes and 50/50s before the match, or in the clubhouse bars after games. If you don't know me, BemmyGas or Ron Cocks can point you in my direction.
I was thinking of a special introductory price of £20 up front and this includes you in all the draws. (With a cup run that could be 27 home games or more - what a bargain!). I'll add the caveat that if we play badly and get hammered and the first 3-4 "regulars" in the bar tell me to go forth... in the nicest possible way, there probably won't be a draw that game!
After doing it for a while and doing our little bit to support the club, it would be disappointing to be priced out.
Thanks
