For me- recruitment needs to match the division you're in. In league 2, with a higher budget than most Joey recruited well. Signing the best league 2 players and some who'd been good in the league above. In league 1, we were unable to repeat the same trick. We don't have the funds. In the past, we'd run out of road as our recruitment was too narrow. We tried through Widdington but I think the combination of Garner and Tommy was too novice. I'm glad that through George Friend we've shifted the model again. It'll need expansion though. I think we've got an interesting squad but we desperately need a striker and a winger. Do we desperately need them or just need Martin and Sotiriou to be fit and Sinclair, Thomas, Hutchinson and Garrett to be creative? Even if we signed a young striker and winger you can only see them starting on the bench for the first few games anyway. |

Both Martin and Sotiriou are out for both the first two games I believe. In all the friendlies we have looked like we are missing something upfront especially if the one fit centre forward goes off. A good striker coming in would up our chances of winning Saturday and we dont want to be playing catch up just due to the failure to bring a striker in.

Toppergas in reply to your comment as regards me and young players, most of the time I have been right and very few make it to the first team level and instead we have to resort to signing other teams youngsters. I have just given my opinion based on quite a few saying Jed will be our number 1 next season. I dont think he will be as I just dont see him as good enough and will be surprised if he does. It is just my opinion and if i am wrong and he goes on to have a good c areer in League football then great for him and no doubt i will then be reminded and I dont worry about that.
It gives me no pride whatsoever in being right and would much rather be proved wrong. Hopefully this seasons crop will be an improvement.
As regards Pirate the point I am trying to make is that GF cannot afford to be very wrong with the 12 signings so far and personally dont think he will be. Pirate however posts videos of players everyday. I have no problem with that but the number of players that actually make it are very few of the hundreds possibly even thousands that he puts forward.
