If this is in the wrong thread mods, please move.
Luton have announced that they will be keeping the same home shirt as last season, and announced they will only be changing them every 2 years from now on. Sounds like a great idea to me, will save all the speculation and waiting until the last minute before we know what shirt we'll be playing in. Plus us fans won't have to fork out for new strips every year.

They just got 120m+ for one season in the Prem, they can afford this.
We can't. End of discussion.

Still nice for the fans! Not everyone can afford to buy one or two new shirts season after season.

How much do the club make from new shirts every season? Not expecting you to know but until we know how much ££s it generates it’s hard to say if we can’t afford it. I don’t know but would more people buy them if they came out earlier and people knew they be current for two years? UTG!

I imagine it is to do with the sponsorship which I would think would be for 1 season. If so any new sponsors are not going to be happy if their shirt is not being sold and the previous seasons sponsors are still being sold. Just because there is a new shirt it is a personal choice whether you buy one./ Ipersonally wear a shirt from previous seasons and as long as it is a Rovers shirt who really cares. If you cant afford it then dont buy it though I think it is a valid point made.

Yes, no doubt, but no one else has done it, so still a nice gesture, plus it's not just this season, it's going to be ongoing. I take your point about income, but in reality how much profit does the club actually make from shirts (not all merchandise, just home shirt)? So I do think it's worth a discussion 'end of' 🤢

I'm not thinking necessarily about adults, because of course they can make the choice, but if you have kids, a lot of people might find it difficult to say no, it's just one less thing to stress about. Everyone thinks I'm advocating this for Rovers, I'm not, I just think it's worth discussing and it's a nice gesture from Luton who are very well run and very much in tune with their fanbase, not all clubs are. (No implications about Rovers, before the usual suspects pile on).

I've always thought in an ideal world the best way would be to have a both home and away every 2 years but on alternate years. That way there is always a new kit out every season but the fans can get their money's worth at the same time. Doesn't always tie in with kit provider contracts etc

Not the biggest problem having different sponsors each season on the same kit. Happened quite a few times back in the 90s.

Things have moved on in the last 25 years, Utility etc might not want to be associated with Rovers once they have decided to end their sponsorship.

You would just get a different sponsor on the same shirt. No different to an old sponsor being any previous shirt. It's happened before. One of our kits in the recent past had 2 sponsors, that one that had the football index sponsor and another one
